Chapter 14: News

Harley's P. O. V:

I groaned and turned over in my bed. Johnny isn't so bad.... maybe I should consider it...

I thought about it for a little while. I sighed. He IS cute... but... I like Jack. And I don't think getting with Johnny will change that. I got up from my bed and went into the bathroom. My mom called me from the kitchen. Ugh. After I brushed my teeth and hair, I trudged to the kitchen. I picked up my toast that she made me (or I convinced myself that she made it for me) and took a bite.

"Um... Harleen..." My mother started. "There's something I need to tell you... "

"Yeah?" I asked. I was suspicious. Usually mom eats than goes off to work, no talking, no nothing.

"I got a letter in the mail.... and... it turns out they're turning Gotham High into... a.... 'overnight' school.... which means that you'll be staying there for the whole year until winter or summer break. Like... you'll be... sleeping in dorms there... and... yeah. " She bit her lip and stared at me.

"Oh. " Is all I could say. I was so surprised... "But... I'm not gonna.... your not gonna... your gonna transfer me then?" I asked.

"Oh, Harleen!" She yelped.

I jumped a little. "What?!"

"Oh.. I can't... I think it's for the best that you... that you.. "

"That I stay there?" I couldn't believe her! Grrrrrrrr! "What?!"

"Now Harleen.... please.. " She started to say, but I cut her off.

"No! You stupid bi*ch! You 'please'! You work at a shi*y job and I have to go to a school that have weirdos in all corners... and... and... " I didn't know what I was saying... I didn't mean it when I said weirdos in every corner... but I did mean what I said about her job.. and her pathetic life...

"Harleen... I thought you liked it there.... you have friends.... like Selina and Pamelia... And that boy, Johnathan.... he's cute... you can-"

"No!" And I stalked away back to my room to get ready for school, fuming.
