Flashback-

The two old men meet after 3 weeks and share a tight hug. Both similarly aged, grey hair and wrinkled face. But you can easily recognize Walter Malik from them. He had the typical Islamic face. The other was Yogesh Sharma. Both of them sipped their tea and continued their small talks. Yogesh’s son and his wife, and Walter’s son and his wife were inside with their talks as well. As the two grandfathers were best friends, their families too were very comfortable around each other. As they continued with their tea, their eyes were planted on the two kids playing in their garden. It was Yogesh’s granddaughter and Walter’s grandson. They, like their ancestors, were very good friends. The grandfathers’ eyes sparkled at the innocence of the two kids.

“We should get them married one day...” Walter sighed. They would make a good pair.

“Hmmm....” Yogesh agreed. “This would be an inter-religion marriage...” He hinted

“I know...but, I think they should be together...” Walter said and Yogesh nodded his head in approval. And that day, they decided that Devika Joginder Sharma, granddaughter of Yogesh Sharma and Zayn  Javadd Malik, Walter’s grandson, will be arranged to marry each other, when the girl turns 21 years of age. Zayn would be around 24 then.

Present:

It has been 5 years since Yogesh Sharma passed away and 3 since Walter died. Both the families were equally sad with their losses.

Yogesh’s son, Joginder Sharma, got offered a high position in one of his company offices at London. Zayn and Devika had a dramatic goodbye, hugging each other and crying and all... They wouldn’t be seeing each other in a long time... Devika was 15 then and Zayn, 18.

It was 5 years since they moved to London and the line of contact between the Maliks and Sharmas snapped. They hadn’t contacted each other for 5 years and surely, their departed grandparents would be disappointed. But, everyone was too busy to maintain contact.

Devika had forgotten about Zayn. All about him...She even forgot about what it was to live in India.

Meanwhile, Zayn, who had shown interest in singing, tried out for X-factor, UK. He had got in and had to travel a lot. So, in order to keep the family together, Zayn, along with his dad, Yaser, his mum, Trisha, elder sister, Doniya and younger sisters, Waliyha and Safaa, decided to move to London. Zayn was 18 then, and he is now 22. Zayn too, had forgotten about his childhood bestie, Devika.

In short, both were too busy to notice the people in their past.
