We were seated in comfy cushion chairs, while Manish and Drashti announced the first act for the night.

“According to last week’s marks by the judges and viewer’s votes, we have two pairs in the danger zone today- who’ll fight for immunity. Only one will get to carry on the journey on Jhalak, while the other will have to say goodbye. Contestants, please come on to the stage” Manish announced in a serious tone and everyone came on stage with their choreographers. Each pair was under a blue spotlight, with their heads partly bowed down.

“When I call your names, please step forth. Sukhwinder ji, Ashish and Isha” Drashti said clearly

The famous singer, Sukhwinder Singh, a daily soap actor, Ashish Sharma and the oh-so-flexible Isha Sherwani stepped forward with their choreographers.

Nervousness was clearly seen on their faces. Manish turned to us and spoke, “Devika and Zayn, on your desk would be an envelope, where you’ll see the results. I request you guys to announce who’ll be the one in the danger zone tonight.”

Zayn reached forward and took the envelope. He slowly opened it and I peeked in to see the results. I took the mike from the desk and spoke, “Isha...”

“Aap bottom two mein....” I dragged on...”Nahi hai! Congratulations, love! You’re safe this week! (You’re not in the bottom two)”

Isha took a sigh of relief and smiled widely. She left to her seat. After that, Ashish was also in, meaning Sukhwinder was in the bottom 2. Joining him was Sophie.

“Consistent 30s, millions of votes are no news for them! They’ve been performing amazingly with passion and grace for three weeks now. Now, they reckon it’s time for them to scare us. Here’s Isha and Salman with their horror act! Enjoyyyyy...” Manish said adding a spooky giggle at the end.

The lights dimmed and the act began and boy, was it scary! I had to gulp invisible lumps in my throat in between. This was the first time I’d seen something live like this, and horrifying.

After the act, there was a mass cheer of “Once more!” and we all stood up from our seats. I turned to look at Zayn and witnessed the surprise on his face too.

“Arre, Isha!! You guys really scared us, yaar! Madhuri was looking all pale during the performance; let’s ask her views on it! Madhuriji?” Manish asked.

“My, my Isha! What was this! It’s so horrifying and you look hell-scary!!! You’re definitely haunting my dreams tonight!! And as for your performance, it was amazing! You killed it and it was peeeeerfect!” She finished and everyone clapped, including me, cuz that girl deserved it!

“Remo sir? Did she scare you??” Manish asked teasingly.

“To be honest, yeah she did! A superb performance and I just have one phrase to say and: THIS IS IT!” He stood up, pointing his hand at them. Isha screamed and jumped on top of Salman in a hug. All of us laughed at her excitement.

“And Karan. Waise main ek baat kaun toh Karan bohot darr raha tha! He was like, literally gripping on the edge of his desk, all pale and sweaty! Kya kahenge iss performance ke baarein mein? (If I state a fact, let me just say Karan was scared out of his wits. He was literally gripping the edge of his desk, all pale and sweaty. What would you like to say about this act?)”

“Manish, I’ll see to you later on that comment. But about the performance! My goodness, this is the most scared I’ve been in a while! You are horrifying, Isha!! To call this a horror act, would be the understatement of the century, it was bloody terrifying and once again, a blockbuster performance! Congrats, Isha!!” He concluded

Everyone applauds and Manish spoke, “Now, for our special guests; Devika, what did you think of Isha’s horror act?”

“Karan was right, to call it horror, would be an understatement! You were amazing and I love the way you portrayed this act through dance, not missing one beat! That’s brilliant and inspirational! I’m so glad I witnessed this! I loved it!!” I said and she thanked me.

“Zayn?” Manish called.

Zayn lifted his mike and said, “Wow, that was terrifying...To do this live, is massive! All the best to both of you!! Brilliant job!”

As usual, they scored the perfect 30.

After a few more performances, and a teary goodbye to Sukhwinder Singh, it was time for us to leave the show; which I was dreading.

“How was your experience on Jhalak, Devika?” Drashti asked me.

I took a mike from Manish and answered her, “It was amazayn!! I’d definitely love to visit again!!”

Zayn took it from me and told, “Yeah, it’s a massive feat you’ve put together! I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our anniversary!!”

“That’s great! Now we all know that Zayn’s an amazing singer, right guys?” Manish called out loudly to the audience and they roared in acceptance.

“Aha, thanks guys!!” He said and blew a kiss, which drove em crazy.

“And Devika too! Now, how about we hear a song from the lovely couple with lovely voices?” Asked Manish to the audience.

I fake-glared at Manish and he chuckled slightly and said, “Haye! Kitni khoobsurat lagti hai, ni? (Isn’t she beautiful?) In a teasing manner.

“Come on, love, give it a shot with me!”Zayn cooed beside me, making the crowd go wild. I nodded heartlessly and took the mike.

I caught the slow and simple rhythm the DJ played and started singing,

“I’ve figured it out;

I’ve figured it out from black and white

Seconds and hours,

Maybe they had to take some time...”

Zayn caught up,

“I know how it goes,

I know how it goes from wrong and right,

Silence and sound...

Did they ever hold each other, tight, like us?

Did they ever fight like us?”

Zayn sang while turning me around and holding my waist, both of us bobbing our hips to the music.

We smiled at each other, caught our eye and began together

“You and I!

We don’t wanna be like them...

We can make it till the end,

Nothing can come between...

You and I,

Not even the gods above...

Can separate the two of us...

Nothing can come between...”

Zayn sang, “You and I!” while I sang the backing high note, which was hell lotta difficult.

But, best anniversary ever and I love Zayn for that! <3
