Another Day
They traveled together to Plainsway
The look of devastation on his face
Was more then she could say.
The town was gone
The people he knew
Were no more
His anger grew
"This is all my fault!"
He was looking to blame.
"No! It's mine!"
She felt the shame.
He followed her
For the greater good
Not knowing they'd destroy
his neighborhood.
Tears in his eyes
He refused to cry.
She held on tight
"You must say good-bye."
Her eyes closed.
She could feel them close
They started to appear
Those heavenly hosts
Billy's eyes
widened in surprise
They all came forth
to say their good-byes
"You did what you could,"
Some would say.
"You did what you should,
so others will live
another day."
"But now you are all lost
I know not what to do."
They smile at him saying
"Leave that to, Rue."
She smiled back saying,
"You need no longer roam.
Leave this land.
Go back home."
They hollered.
They cheered.
No longer trapped
Like they feared.
Her power had set
them free.
"Now what to do
About you?"
she thought,
wondering what might be.
As she watched
He waved good-bye
Watching them fade
into the sky.
Feeling restless
That night
She transformed
Taking flight
Billy slept on
By the fire.
"He's coming with me
But will he tire?"
She stood on the cliff
She must decide soon
Then whispering on the wind
Was a soulful tune.
She could not hear
The words of the song
But suddenly felt
Letting go would be wrong
They started this together
He took her part
She knew she couldn't leave him
He had her heart.
