Liam couldn't believe his own stupidity.

He had been taught by his father that most people weren't able to handle the Mafia world, and it was best that it stayed in the shadows. The rest of the world wasn't ready to know that the Mafia ran most of their governments, that their hands where in some very influential pockets. They prefered to live in their own bubbles, thinking that the world ran on purity and honesty instead of the truth. That the world was run on dark deals and lies.

He had forgotten she was there. He was just with her, and he had let his anger get the best of him, and he had forgotten that Rowen was there, sitting in his living room, in hearing distance. She had told him that she spoke Italian, and yet he had still yelled in his native language.

And she had heard everything. Understood everything.

She hadn't run, not when she heard him ordering the death of a friend. Or when he had told her that he was in the Mafia. She had sat there with a small knowing smile on her face. Like she had known all along and was just waiting for him to say it to her.

He had told her that while she might know that he was involved in the Mafia, the less details that she knew the better it was for her. Liam made sure to bring up the police visit that she had since she had stated that she had lied to them for him. If she knew little details, before it was time for her to know, then it could be used against him.

Again she shocked and surprised him when she had agreed with him. Asking only for what he could tell her.

Rowen had asked questions, ones that he was expecting, "How many people have you killed?" That wasn't an easy question, while he knew exactly how many people he had killed, he didn't want Rowen to know it. He still had to cover his own ass when it came to his death toll, so he told her a smaller number, something that was far enough away from the truth that he was safe, yet still giving her an answer.

She told him that she knew he was lying, but she understood it was for safety reasons. Liam felt himself fall a little more for the redhead in front of him.

She had asked him about what he did for the Mafia, he gave her a look that told her everything she needed to know. She sighed, rubbing her temples as she thought of ways to word questions so he would actually answer some.

He gave into her a little and told her about the real estate deals, the guns, and the drugs. She didn't seem shocked, she narrowed her eyes and asked if he dealt with people trafficking. He could answer her honestly then, he didn't, not Liam personally.

Liam told her about his vice, purchasing restaurants. When he asked her about the restaurant that she favored, he laughed and told her that he owned it. She had watched him with a look of pure fascination on her face, he felt proud of himself in that moment. Not because he was telling her about his life in the Mafia, but because he was truly being himself and she hadn't changed her opinion of him.

By the time that Liam had explained everything he could to her, it was dinner time. Not wanting to cook anything, Liam ordered take-out while Rowen went to the bathroom to freshen up. Liam called one of the closest restaurants that he owned and told them to send the food to his apartment.

There were times that being feared came in handy, The food arrived before Rowen stepped out of the bathroom. She had given him a look of disbelief before just shaking her head and heading towards the dining table.

Liam was trying not to laugh at her attempts at using the chopsticks that came with the meal. He had almost choked on his shrimp when she tossed them over her shoulder and started using her fingers to eat her food.
