A month had passed since Liam had taken Rowen home from the hospital. She had gotten the all clear for her physical injuries from the doctors once the last bruise had faded. She had been in there longer than other people with similar injuries had been. Mostly down to how long it was taking her to heal mentally, and Liam didn't want her leaving the hospital until he could find somewhere safe for them to be until he had sorted out the situation with his father.
Once he explained it to the doctor's and the hospital board that his woman would be staying there for as long as he wanted they saw things his way. Of cause that was after he told them who he was and what he could do to them. He also gave them a little extra padding for their wallets so no one thought to call the police behind his back.
It had worked and that meant that Rowen got to stay in her privet room with Liam by her side, surrounded by his family and a few guards, and no one said anything to her about it. Even her doctor, who Liam didn't have to bribe or threaten, thought it was a good idea that she stay in longer.
His mother had looked at him with pride when he told her that he wasn't letting Rowen out of his sight. She had always had pride in him, she was unsure of the life that she let him walk into, following in his father's footsteps. But when she saw him with Rowen, heard the way he spoke about their future, she knew that while her son was using the same path, he wasn't walking in his father's shadow any longer. He was his own man.
Rowen had fought him hard when he said that she couldn't go back to her home.

"It's my home! I feel safe there Liam." She looked at him with big eyes, pleading for him not to take her home away from her.
"Rowen." he sighed, not wanting to tell her what he knew.
How could he explain to her that his father had been in her house? That he had used a key to get in and decided that her bed and what remained of her underwear were a good place to shoot his seed. Liam had already seen the photographic proof that his father wasn't finished with them yet, he knew that Rowen was Liam's weakness and he was going to continue to exploit that weakness.
Except she wasn't his weakness any longer. He knew now that she made him stronger, more determined to do the best he could to keep her safe. He had already started to contact the other Don's again and tell them a brief description on how far his father had fallen.
"Rowen," Carlos stepped forward. "Someone was in the house."
His words made her flinch, her face paled and she looked like she was going to be sick. Liam gave Carlos an appreciative look. While the words were hard to accept, Carlos had said them with a soft voice, delivering them as kindly as he could.
He didn't tell her that it was Liam's father that was in the house, nor did he go into any kind of detail about what had happened. Just that there was someone in there, and now it wasn't safe.
"Did... Did they take anything?" Rowen asked, Liam had a feeling that she already knew it was Enzo, but she was asking regardless.
Liam crouched in front of her, putting his hands on her knees. He was going to tell her the truth before he looked into her chocolate coloured eyes and saw the pain that was still so close to the surface. It was that look that made him choose to lie to her.
"They took some things, the T.V, DVD player. Some of your jewellery and clothing, I think a handbag or two." Liam rattled off things that he knew were valuable to a street thug. Anything that had some form of street value.
