Tyler, you idiot!
Wake up already!
I sat up in a panic, thinking someone was calling me, like a doctor or something. When I realized it was just the voices, I fell back onto the bed and sighed.
"What?" I mumbled, putting my hands over my eyes and dragging them down my face in an attempt to wake up more.
God, you slept in so late.
You're so lazy, oh my god!
I looked over to the clock beside me. "It's six thirty! What're you talking about?!"
Lazy, lazy, lazy
He's got a point, you know.
"You guys haven't talked in a long time, and the first thing you do is call me lazy? What happened to you guys been nice and sticking up for me?"
That went out the window a while ago.
Yeah, we dropped the nice act.
Told you they were acting.
"Just shut up, please. It's too early for this." I rolled over and put a pillow over my head.
Putting a pillow over your head won't block us out, dummy.
Jeez, Tyler. Your brains were the only thing you had going for you, and now that's gone too.
"Shut up. I'm not in the mood to fight with you right now."
Who said you get a choice?
"I did. Now shut up."
And since when have your opinions mattered?
"Oh my-" I sighed. "I told you I'm not in the mood to fight."
You'll end up fighting them anyways. Why even try and ignore that fact? It's just the same when you and I fight. You deny fighting for, like, 5 minutes, then you just give in.
"I do not!"
Yes you do. Its the same thing every time.
How have you never noticed this before?
We all know he's right. You've always done that. You've done it since before you were ten.
Looking back, they were right. I have always tried to deny fighting them and then I do anyways.
"Why haven't I ever noticed that.."
Cause you're stupid.
"No, I'm not."
Well you sure as hell aren't smart.
"If you don't quit I'll call in a nurse."
And what will they do?
Give you a dose of the drugs that make you numb and zone out?
Cause that's such a smart idea.
I angrily grabbed the button and pushed it a couple of times then sat back, crossing my arms like a child throwing a tantrum.
Idiot.
Agreed.
"Shut. Up." I stated through gritted teeth.
You are less threatening than a marshmallow.
You couldn't hurt a fly if you tried.
The nurse from last night walked in. "Hey, Tyler. What's up?"
She was always so chill which made her one of my favorite nurses. "Is there anything you can do or anything you can give me to make these stupid voices stop talking?"
"No, sorry. The medication that is supposed to help with that is one that they took you off of for now."
"Can't you at least give me a small dose? They won't stop trying to pick a fight with me! They woke me up just to try getting me to fight with them!"
"I'll check with one of the doctors, but I'm not making any promises."
"Thank you so much, Brenda!"
She smiled and left.
You've gotta be stupider than we thought if you think the meds you've been taking since you were three are gonna shut us up.
They haven't before, so what makes you think they will now?
I was about to say something, when Brenda came back. "Okay, so I talked to Dr. Glenn and she said that you could take a pill and a half, but that's all you can have today."
"That's fine! Anything to shut them up!"
She giggled and walked over to my bed, handing me the pills. "If you start feeling funny, just press the button again. We'll have to keep a closer eye on you today, so we might be in more often."
I nodded, grabbing the water from the table and taking a sip to help the pills go down.
"Anything else?" She asked, walking towards the door.
"No. Thanks for getting the pills for me." I smiled.
"No problem." She smiled in return and left.
I glanced at the clock again, seeing it was now quarter to seven. I decided I probably had time to sleep a little before someone came in to check on me.
Nurse Brenda's POV
I knew Dr. Glenn wouldn't want Tyler taking any amount of the medicine, but he looked so hopeful. I was willing to sneak him the medicine if Dr. Glenn said no. Even though I knew that could cost me my job.
I walked into Dr. Glenn's office and saw her looking over some papers. "Dr. Glenn?"
She looked up from her papers and her mood immediately lifted. "Brenda! What is it?" She smiled.
"Um.. This is gonna sound kinda stupid, and I'm sure I already know the answer, but can Tyler take any kind of pill to help with the voices he's hearing?"
"I work with a lot of people; which Tyler?"
The schizophrenic one. "Tyler Joseph."
"Oh, well, I'm not sure. Is he not taking any that help at the moment?"
"I'm not sure."
She dug around on her messy desk and picked up a file. "He's off the ones for that..."
"Can he take any? Even a small dose? He's complaining about how they won't stop fighting."
"I don't think that's such a good idea."
"He can't stay off of them forever."
"No, he can't, but if we know its the Abilify we can lower the dosage to stop whatever happened before from happening again."
"Can we not try a small dose today?"
"I don't know, Brenda. That doesn't seem like a smart idea."
"Just a pill and a half? Just this one time today?"
She sighed and rubbed her eyes. "No, Brenda not today, I'm sorry."
I nodded and left. I was getting him those pills. She said it was Abilify, and I know where they kept the medicine, so I snuck to the medicine room. I found the Abilify almost right away, and quickly made my way back to Tyler's room.
I lied and told him that the doctor said it was okay for him to take these, so I just told him I'd be checking in more often in case anything happened. I knew nothing would happen though. He's off three pills, and Abilify doesn't even have anything like what happened listed as a side effect. I left the room and hoped that no one would notice what I did.
