Tyler's POV

The morning flew by, and I hardly heard the voices! Brenda came in at least once an hour to make sure I was okay. It was weird that it was only her and not a doctor coming to check on me, but I didn't question it.

Mom came in not long after Brenda had left for the fifth or sixth time. "Why is that nurse coming in so often?" She asked, sitting in the chair beside my bed.

I shrugged. "She gave me some meds to help with the voices fighting and said that they had to keep an eye on me to make sure nothing happened like last time."

"Shouldn't a doctor be coming in, not a nurse?"

"I don't know. Maybe the doctor's just busy."

She nodded and mumbled something. "So," She started, louder this time.

I looked up from my crappy hospital food. "Yeah?" I raised an eyebrow.

"I talked to Dr. Glenn yesterday and she said that you should be out of here in four days, max."

A huge smile spread across both of our faces. "That's great!" I almost jumped out of bed, and I would have if there wasn't a table over my lap. "Have you heard if they're doing anything with my meds?"

She shook her head. "No, I haven't. Sorry, sweety."

"Its fine." I sighed. I just wanted to know what was going on and get out of here.

"I think Jenna and Josh are coming by later."

I could tell mom was trying to make light of the situation, so I gave her a small, fake smile.

"I know you want to get out of here, I do too, but these next few days should fly by."

"Here's hoping they will."

She smiled and walked over to my bed, giving me a kiss on the forehead and then leaving.

Mamas boy

The voice was very faint, so I didn't pay too much attention to it.

Not long after school ended, Josh and Jenna came in with excited looks on their faces.

"What's got you guys so giddy?" I giggled.

"Your mom said you get out in a few days, is that not something to get excited about?" Jenna asked sarcastically, throwing her bag on the ground.

"I guess it is." I laughed.

"What do you mean 'I guess'? You don't like it here, do you?" Josh joked.

"Oh, I just love it here." I replied monotonously.

"I knew it!"

We all laughed.

Jenna and Josh were talking about some stupid thing a kid in our math class did today. I was trying to stay focused on them, but the stupid voices were trying to pick fights again.

Just like grade nine, isn't it?

Remember how terrible that year was for you?

All your friends left you.

They only stayed out of pity.

I shook my head lightly to try clearing it. That usually works. Key word being, usually.

Why do you think shaking your head's gonna shut us up?

You obviously know that does nothing.

So what's the point?

I was about to start telling them off, but before I could, Jenna tapped my leg lightly, making me bring my focus back to her and Josh.

"Everything okay?" She asked. I looked between her and Josh for a second, seeing Josh was giving me the same look Jenna was.

"Peachy." I replied sarcastically.

"What's up?" Josh asked, leaning forward a bit.

"Dumb and dumber are fighting again."

"Oh, joy." Josh and Jenna said in unison; I sighed.

We have names, you know!

Yeah, stupid.

"I'd call you by your names if you told me what they were." I was starting to lose patience at this point.

Wouldn't you like to know

"I'm not just asking for no reason."

Fine. You wanna know that bad?

"Yes."

Aidan

Rick

Happy now?

"Those aren't the kinds of names I was expecting.."

What were you expecting? Duke and Jackson?

"Something along those lines, yeah."

Whatever.

"What're their names?" Jenna asked.

"Aidan and Rick."

They both looked a little taken back by the names like I was.

"Not what you guys were expecting either?"

Both shook their heads in response.

Well what do you want from us!

We didn't choose our names! You did! For all three of us!

"When did I do that?"

You seriously don't remember?

Of course he doesn't. He's an idiot, remember?

"When did I give you guys names?"

When you first started hearing us, dummy.

We wanted better names too, but you wouldn't change them.

He's always been stubborn, what did you expect?

"I'm not that stubborn."

Whatever.

Seriously though, how do you not remember naming us?

"I just don't remember, okay?"

"What do you not remember?" Josh questioned.

"Naming them."

"All of them, or just the two?"

"All of them, apparently."

I know why you don't remember.

"... Why?"

Cause it happened before grade nine.

I sat there, just looking ahead for a second, in slight shock. Grade nine was the worst year for me so I ended up blocking everything that happened that year and before out. I just couldn't handle the guilt that came with the memories. I still can't.

"Tyler, what's wrong?" Jenna asked, concern present in her voice.

"I'm fine, don't worry.. Just in a little bit of shock from what they said."

"What did they say?"

"They brought up grade nine."
