"For as long as I can remember, I've been a reject. You don't know what truly hurts until it happens." I wrote in my journal. It was the middle of lunch and I was bored.
"Another quote?" My best friend Summer asked, staring into my journal.
"Y-yeah." I replied.
"Cool. I wish I could write like you." She flipped through the pages of my notebook. Everyday I wrote something new.
"It's not that good." I laughed weakly.
"Its way more than I can write." My other best friend, Hunter, said.
"But you can draw so its okay." Summer pointed at his notebook. Laughing, I continued to listen to my friends argue. Each day I would sit with the same people, the same table, and the same time. It was fun, most of the time.
"Hey rejects." It was that name again. It was the cheerleader, Ginger. She was Hunter's sister.
"What Ginger?" Hunter looked at her, it was hard to tell they were siblings some times.
"You know the new kid Justin? We need another table for him. You can go sit over there." She pointed to a distant table.
"No way. We're staying here." Summer argued.
"No. You're moving over there." Ginger slammed her hand on the table continuing to point.
"Says who?" Summer nagged at her. I was ready to move, I threw away my lunch.
"Says me!" Ginger only continued to argue back. Sooner or later, the bell would ring. This would be over in a few minutes.
"You guys can stay, there's room for all of us." A guy walked up and calmed Ginger, that must have been Justin.
"And sit with rejects?" Ginger scoffed.
"I could say the same." Summer turned her cheek.
"I mean why not? Right?" He flashed a smile at me.
"I don't really care." I sat back down realizing I was still standing.
"See?" He pulled out the chair next to me but Summer stopped him mid-way.
"What are you doing?" She asked him.
"Sitting?" He replied.
"I sit next to Luze. You can sit next to Ginger." Her tone was harsh. It looked like we assigned ourselves seats. It was me, Summer on my left, Ginger, Justin, an empty seat, and then Hunter. After all of this nonsense, I knew something different was going to happen. After all, since when did populars, Pops we call them, sit with rejects? The day went by slowly, and got even more sluggish as it rained.
"I just want to go home." I sighed. I waited outside of the school until it stopped raining. I couldn't find my bike on the racks and I had no umbrella. I was planning on getting wet either. Sighing hard I continued to wait.
"What's with the sighing?" I heard a voice ask. I turned and it was Justin.
"Oh god." I looked down. I didn't plan on talking to him either. He laughed.
"I asked a question and its like I'm the worst person ever." He said.
"Who knows." I shrugged my shoulders.
"Need a ride?" Justin asked me.
"Yeah. Sorta." I looked up at him.
"Sorta?" He laughed. "Let's go." He held out his hand. Putting my hands in my jacket pockets, I waited for him to show me his car. It felt like a long car ride.
"And then you turn down this street." I pointed using my fingers.
"I know." He turned left.
"Wait what?" I looked at him confused and clenched my backpack.
"No uh, I meant I had a feeling you know?" He frantically said.
"Right." I said sarcastically. Getting out of the car I looked back at him.
"See you around." I walked into my house. Inside I opened my laptop.
"Today's fight. Over a table. Now us rejects sit with Pops. What a weird day. Sounds like some sort of anime. At least I wont have to worry about tomorrow though." I typed in my online journal. I flopped onto my bed and turned on the television.
"Wouldn't that be interesting?" I said to myself watching SpongeBob Squarepants.
"I got it! Let's get naked!" Patrick said.
"No we'll save that for when-" There was a knock covering SpongeBob's voice. Irritated, I walked to the door.
"Who's there?" I yelled through the door.
"It's Hunter!" Hunter said through the door.
"I'm watching SpongeBob!" I told him.
"And I'm a goofy goober. Har har har." He said through the door and I opened it.
"What's up?" I looked at him.
"You won' believe it but." He stopped mid-sentence.
"But what?" I was impatient.
"I won free tickets to roller skating. Eight people." He showed a large coupon.
"And?" I looked at the colored paper.
"I get to dj the music. Freak night!" Hunter sounded excited.
"For real how?" I asked.
"Lucky, I guess. Well then, see you tomorrow and on Saturday." Hunter waved goodbye.
"See you later!" I waved backed. "So lucky." I thought, the tv went on commercial.
"Now, all I got to do is this homework and survive tomorrow." I pulled out my homework during the commercial breaks. Unfortunately, the morning was different from what I expected.
