As Justin pulled out of the driveway, I waved goodbye. The lights in the house were off, that either meant my mom was knocked out or she was ready to attack. With hopeful thoughts I walked into the house after John, he was tired now and waltzed up to bed.
"Mom?" I turned the light on and looked around. She was sleeping quietly on the couch in a bad sleeping position.
"C'mon mom, go to your bed." I attempted to wake her up. I shook her arms a few times, the dragged her up to her room where she soon fell asleep.
The house was very quiet except for any movements or noises I made. In my room I grabbed a barely used notebook, and began writing in it.
"Today, I somehow managed to get a boyfriend. I don't know how or why, but it's a sign of good luck I hope. I also hope this doesnt go down in flames." I wrote and put away the book.
I changed into my pajamas and got into bed. Though the lights were off I stared blankly at my phone screen. "Goodnight." I texted Justin before slamming my phone onto the charger and falling asleep. It didn't feel like I slept at all that night.
"Good morning John." I walked dowstairs, I felt sluggish.
"Hey Luze," He greeted me munching on cereal. "So you weren't at his game?" He asked.
"His game?" I was confused.
"That boy Justin had a game today, didn't you go?" John looked at me as if I were stupid.
"He did?" I began to run up the stairs, I had no idea.
The second I got upstairs, I dashed for my phone. The time was 1:17pm, I had really slept in. My phone had three messages on it.
"Good Morning Luze Lu", "Wish me luck on my game, cant wait to play", and "I guess I was a bit too excited. Call me later." The messages said. I decided to call him right away.
"Hey." Justin answered, he sounded in pain.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Nothing much." He said and there was laughing in the background.
"Trynna sound cool even on the phone?! Listen you, he broke his wrist playing. What a klutz." The voice sounded like Brax.
"Are you okay?" It was my first concern. When I played volleyball in middle school I sprained my wrist, it was painful. That must mean breaking something was even more painful.
"I'm fine, I just got this brace. It was real quick how they gave to me too." Justin said through the phone before I heard a whine in the background.
"Let's eat there!" The voice must've been Jeremy. "Let's bring Luze too!" I heard him say.
"Luze, you wanna meet us somewhere?" Brax asked.
"I don't have a car." I said, I have a license but no car. I had a bike, but it disappeared one day.
"We'll just come get you then." He said.
"What are you talking about?" Justin said before the phone hung up.
"John, make sure mom drinks plenty of water. I'll be back later." I wrapped my scarf over my sweater.
"Where you going?" He asked me, he was still eating cereal.
"I honestly have no clue." I zipped my boot's zipper and peered out the window. Justin's car came trailing up the driveway before I heard a loud honk.
"Be safe! There'll be a surprise by the time you get back I'm sure." John continued to laze about.
"S-so where are we going?" I asked climbing into the vehicle.
"Some place to get food, I hope you're hungry." The driver said, his voice sounded like Brax's so I assumed that was him.
"I'm definitely hungry." I assumed this person was Jeremy, he looked like a cheerful kid who plays softball.
"This guy's in a slump cause we invited his girl out, but in the end don't worry much about him. Such a kid, I'm Braxton by the way, or Brax is okay. " Brax introduced himself continuing to drive.
"I'm Jeremy! Hiii." He cheerfully greeted me. "You sure are pretty." He complimented me.
"Thanks." I said and you could hear Justin grumble. It continued that way until we arrived at an unfamiliar restaurant, it was very awkward but funny.
"Seatbelts off." Jeremy announced and bounced out of the car. I giggled at the sight of him, he was such a cheerful kid.
"This is just stupid." Justin complained loud enough for me to hear. I grabbed the hand opposite of the arm in the brace and smiled at him.
"Don't be so glum, okay?" I continued to smile.
"Okay." Justin said, I could tell his face brightened up.
"Girl powers rule!" Jeremy said walking alongside us.
"When did these two become so close?" Brax teased.
This was actually very enjoyable. I wanted to hold back my laughter but I couldn't in the end.
"You guys are so weird." I laughed.
"We're weird? And you date this guy?" They laughed alongside me. I never noticed until now how enjoyable a family could be together.
