"She'll be fine in about six weeks. But allow her to heal it." The doctor said one last time before we left his office.
"Thank god. I just got off the phone with Ben and suddenly a call from you saying you're in the hospital. Oh thank God I was on today or it would've taken forever to get up here." My mom pounced on me. She did a lot of medicine work despite her massive drinking intake.
"Oh. Thank you too. It saved me a bunch of time." She also hugged onto Justin, I got irritated quickly but I wouldn't show it.
"No problem." He smiled then looked at me.
"Thanks." I said once more, he smiled even brighter.
"Well. Mom's going back to work. See you later Luce." She walked off quickly.
"Bye mom." I waved to her and Justin helped me out of the hospital.
"Sprained ankle huh?" He said.
"I guess. At least I can walk without crutches or anything." I said getting into the car.
"That's good. But when I broke my wrist-" He said but I cut him off.
"You were pretty cranky when you couldn't do anything." I laughed and he laughed along. It felt good to laugh with him again, and I didn't want this time to stop.
"Alright. Looks like you're good to go." Justin said before turning onto my street.
"I guess," I sighed. "Wish time would stop." He gave me a funny look.
"Huh?" I wish I hadn't said that out loud.
"Nothing. See you tomorrow." I opened the door.
"See you tomorrow." He goofily grinned at me.
"..I'm sorry." I said quietly before rushing off towards my door. There's no way an apology like that would count, and there's no way he'd accept an apology from me. There was no way...
My beep and buzzed in my pocket. I took it out and it was a text from Justin, but he was still in my driveway?
"Same place at lunch?" I read and smiled. "Ok." I replied back and walked into the house. That was the dumbest thing I've ever done, it was like this was a romantic movie. I sighed before kicking my shoes off, and flopping onto the couch, staring at the brace on my foot.
"Oh hey Luze, what happened there?" Emily came down, calm for once.
"Sprained my ankle." I said.
"What?!" She exclaimed, I spoke too soon.
"It's no big deal. It was an accident. I'm fine, really." I scurried for words.
"Really? If you say so." She walked into the kitchen. "Want some hot chocolate?" She asked.
"Sure." It was March but that didn't really matter. She came over with our mugs of hot chocolate and turned the television.
"Can't believe that in two months we're going to be graduating, I'm getting married, we're going traveling. Living the lives of adults." She said, not even the strange anime on tv could keep me from what she said.
"Married?! Who and what?!" I yelled just like she would. She began laughing.
"It was just a joke." She continued to laugh. "You really catch everything I say, don't you?" She said before continuing to laugh.
"Oh god. If it wasn't a joke John's really got some gut there." I said and sipped on the hot chocolate.
"He'd never, remember Elliot?" She wiped her tears from laughing so hard.
"Your little brother's scary!" John yelled before I could say anything, and we laughed at him.
"What about you though Luze? Haven't seen you around your boyfriend these past months, something eating you with him?" She asked.
"It's nothing." I said.
"Are you sure?" She asked.
"Yes." I answered.
"Are you sure you're sure?" She questioned me again.
"Okay so the guy I dated, I was constantly worried cause we're different. I constantly heard rumors and gossip or trash talk. The most childish thing, a few notes in my locker, it hit my curiosity and I've decided to check it out. It was a misunderstanding I was sure, but I couldn't help but give in. I lost it and got mad, separated myself, but I just couldn't stop myself. My heart aches every time I look at him 'cos I know I really like him... but it's just not right anymore." I told her. I spoke quickly because I said too many words.
"So? Was it right for people to give rumors or notes?" Emily said.
"But it felt true." I said and sipped on more hot chocolate.
"Then it's right for you to feel whatever way you want." She began drinking her hot chocolate.
"I guess... You're right." I gulped down my hot chocolate like Emily did.
"Tonight!" She yelled. "We party! Tomorrow! We say sorry!" She hopped onto the table.
"Party!" I exclaimed and she began playing loud music.
"Party?" John walked down confused.
"Yes! Party! Dance with us John!" I pulled him towards us, I was cautious because of my brace. But I couldn't help but dance with them, it felt free.
