"Emily?" I walked back into the bathroom and she came out of the stall, rubbing her face with the long sleeves of John's sweatshirt.
"I'm ready. I'm okay now." She smiled at me and we walked back hearing a loud commotion.
"What's going on?" We looked at each other and watched the lunchroom. Our seats were taken by other Pops and our lunches were lying on the floor neatly.
"What are you doing!? Why's our stuff on the floor?" I walked over angry, they already messed with Emily enough I'm sick of them.
"You again? Just shut up!" The jock looked at me then kicked my stuff aside. I huffed then grabbed it away from his feet.
"Luze?" Emily walked to me.
"It's not worth it, they're just Pops." Everyone took their lunches and sat on the floor next to me.
"Ah, Luze look what I found." Emily pulled out her phone, she pulled up a website.
"Oh my god." On the website was a silver necklace with the word "Reject" for a good price.
"I ordered it from Francis, and I'm sure it'll be here soon." She said, her eyes sparkled.
"Are you serious?" I got excited.
"Yeah." Even though all this drama happened not too long ago, this day could still turn out pretty good.
"If we do our work right, Prom will come to us in a flash." She whispered to me and I nodded. It was surprising because she was right, next thing I knew it was the day before prom.
"Ugh, my stomach hurts." I held my hands to my stomach, it was tingling with anxiety. I hoped to see if Justin and I were going to prom together, but it seemed strange of me to ask. I was scared because I wasn't sure if he'd go with me, but I was his girlfriend wasn't I?
"Are you okay?" Justin walked and looked down at me with concern.
"I-I'm fine." Just the person I was thinking about! I opened my mouth as if to say something but nothing came out before Ginger interrupted.
"What do you think? Gold looks way better on me doesn't it?" She cut in between us.
"G-gold?" I looked up to her, she was taller than me now because of her heels.
"Duh, I want to look like royalty when I walk with Justin. Only deserves the best," She said then winked at me. "Not that you would understand honey." She walked off to her entourage.
"O-oh, so you guys are going together?" I could hear my heart break into pieces.
"I guess so? Hm? Are you okay?" He stared into me, I felt if he looked any longer I would burst into tears.
"I'm fine!" You could hear the disappointment in my voice as I took the initiative to leave from his side first.
"Well... did it work?" Emily waited for me by my locker.
"I really don't want to mention it now? I just want to go home." I leaned on the locker.
"I mean today's an early day anyway since Prom is tomorrow, they won't miss us." She took out her phone, took my hand, and ran me out of the school mixing with the kids wandering the campus or just coming in.
"S-s-skipping? Isn't this illegal?" I trembled as we ran down the street.
"Probably... but I'd rather help you than do busy work today because they needed an approximate count of seniors we have." Emily said.
"That's true... we already signed in." We ran down to my house, and into the kitchen.
"Today we enjoy ourselves before my flight tomorrow!" She started taking out baking materials.
"Want me to call Francis over?" I asked and she quickly handed me her cellphone.
"Yes yes yes!" She turned the oven on, though she was a spur-of-the-moment kind of person she was a really great friend. I'd probably be filled with horrible feelings all day if we hadn't left.
All it took was Emily, Francis, and a few miniature cupcakes to cure my slump.
"He did what?!" Emily exclaimed pausing the tv when I told her about my situation with Justin.
"It was as I thought, he's going with her just because they'll be prom king and queen." I said.
"Luze that's not right, especially if you're the one dating him." Francis looked at me confused.
"School tradition really. I just wished I was better than her, she wouldn't even have the bliss of Justin being her king." I slouched in the couch.
"Oh no. She definitely won't have the pleasure of that." Francis chuckled taking out supplies from his duffle bag.
"We'll definitely make her see the strong side of a reject." She walked into the kitchen and began to whip up another one of her weird concoctions.
"W-wh-what are you guys planning to do?" I asked as Francis pushed me down.
"A little game called discreet revenge." He took a wet rag and pressed it against my face.
It was a bit strange to not realize they were giving me a makeover, but it was a little more strange for them to give me a makeover the day before.
"Hm? This smells good?" The spread Francis put on my face had a nice fragrance to it.
"I call it honey avocado mix. It's good for your skin." He explained.
"What I made is good for keeping your lips and skin soft." Emily continued the movie we were watching.
"Shouldn't we be doing this tomorrow?" I asked, it may have been a bit of a waste.
"True, but I won't be here tomorrow. Your uncle's giving me and John a ride to the airport at four thirty in the morning, so I won't be here to do anything. Just Francis." She said.
"Oh yeah, I wish we could've went to prom together." I forgot all about her flight, it was delayed to this night before just for me too. I couldn't ask for anything more.
"Me too, but we'll always have chances to do greater things together. Remember our graduation trip, you have to meet us in Italy, that's where we'll meet for sure." She grinned at me.
"Absolutely." I smiled back at her."Oh my god, girls y'all better stop or I'll cry." Francis was a bit misty-eyed.
"Francis shouldn't we be the ones crying?" Emily giggled, a little tear streamed down her face.
"Yeah." I giggled trying my best to hold mines in.
It'll be fine because of how close we are, we'll be even closer I'm sure, and we'll definitely meet as many times as we want.
