I never could think of myself as a prom queen, I could never think of wanting to do it. I never really thought of going to the prom. Now it was different...
"Emily! I need your help!" I dashed home quickly after school, my plan was now, I didn't have time for a leisure drive with Justin. I'd really enjoy it though... but now's not the time.
"My help? With what?" She looked at me shocked, usually she was the one coming to me for help.
"I know you aren't going to the prom, but-" She hugged me.
"I got you! I already know!" She cut my words off and dragged me upstairs.
"What do you have in mind?" I said, she cut to the chase quickly.
"Red is definitely your color. It must be a red dress, you also need to style your hair. I'll get Francis on that, with bouncy curls!" She pulled up a picture of red prom dresses.
"Red's a bit flashy... don't you think?" It felt awkward to look at the dresses until a certain one came to my attention.
"That's exactly what you want. You're fighting Ginger, aren't you?" She looked at me as I stared at the dress.
"How'd you know?" It scared me a bit actually.
"Trust me, I know everything about my child." She giggled.
It really seemed like she wasn't kidding, she easily helped me. It was like a professional's or like she'd been planning this her entire life. We had about a month until prom, we ordered the dress so it would come just in time. I could trust Emily, she never said a word about my secrets, she helped me with everything I needed, I was lucky to have her. I took out a sticker note, I definitely had to pay her back one day.
"I have stuff to work on so we'll get you heels around this weekend." She told me as we walked to school flaunting our 'Rejects' t-shirts.
"Heels?" I never wore heels but once, and it didn't end well.
"No daughter of mine is going to prom in flats or sandals. Heels." She stated firmly.
"Got it." I sighed then smiled at her. John looked at me confused.
"Prom?" He asked and it brought everyone's attention towards us.
"We were just talking about show-offs and such. Y'know like when we tried to wear heels? It would be funny if I tried to go to prom, I'd break my neck!" I joked on a whim, hopefully I directed their attention away. I didn't want to lie, but oh well for now.
"Oh, hey Luze!" Jeremy bounced on me with excitement.
"Morning Jeremy, what's got you all excited?" I asked,
"This morning Justin gave me a ride and I seen a fox and it almost killed us." He said with a smile, my face dropped.
"K-killed you?" I asked, was that a good it.
"It jumped on the car and lost its mind." Jeremy bust out in laughter.
"The fox?" I snorted at his laugh and a grin crept on my face, I didn't know what happened but it must have been funny.
"Do foxes even live around this area?" Hunter asked walking up to us with Summer.
"Who'd blame them, they could get a load of this kid?" Summer hugged onto Jeremy, ruffling his hair a bit.
"We should get going to class, the first bell rang." I said hearing the school's bell chime.
"You're right. I think Justin has the video, ask him to show it to you." Jeremy pulled out of our arms and hurried off to class.
"Freshmen." Summer grinned.
"Yeah, I'd rather just watch him laugh than sit with a Pop to see a video. There's always YouTube." Hunter began walking in the building, we followed after him.
"Yeah, I guess there's always that." Summer agreed and they began their own strange conversation. I only shrugged my shoulders at Emily and she did the same back to me.
"Luze! Question before class please." The teacher walked in.
"Yeah? What's up?" I walked over to her.
"About those t-shirts," She paused, I hope this wasn't any trouble. Though we'd been doing it for a while now. "Did you and your uncle make those too?" She asked.
"Oh, um yeah. We did." I answered back, I just wanted to sit back down from my heart racing over nonsense.
"I can tell, they are very nice. Tell your uncle I said so too." She smiled before walking back out of the classroom.
"Okay." I walked awkwardly to a seat that Ginger quickly kicked me out of. Okay..? So I made my way to the back of the class once again. We probably had another speaker today. Before I sat Justin slapped his hand down on the chair with a goofy grin.
"J-Justin?" I was confused. For what reason did he just do that?
"I've got to show you this." It sounded like he was holding back laughter after being sprayed with laughing gas.
I just stared at him and he pulled me down by the hand into the chair. He took a folder out and a notebook to cover his cellphone. He scrolled through the screen before finding gallery and pressing play on a video.
"Watch this." He snorted looking at the screen before looking away, it must have been to not laugh. How funny could that fox have been?
