Even still, when she said Justin was dating Ginger, my heart ached. I didn't really understand why, but I decided to not let it bother me. I sat and thought long and hard, I hadn't realized how much time passed by me.
"I got you a drink." Justin skated towards me. He handed me a glass of lemonade.
"Thanks." I took a sip of the juice.
"Ready to skate? You were sitting for quite a while," Justin grinned and pointed at Summer and John. The two made silly faces and made gesture to skate again. "If you skate again I promise I won't drop you again." He chuckled holding out his hand.
I took ahold of his hand, it was warmer than before. It felt very comforting, as if I didn't want to let go. Though I wobbled from time to time I ended up laughing each time. I haven't had this much fun with a group of people in a while.
"Woah, didn't know you could smile like that." Justin smiled with me. It made me wonder if me smiling was strange.
"Hey Hey Hey! All you nerds out there, grab a lover and head out onto the rink. We're gonna have ourselves a couples skate! Now you don't need a lover, you just need a partner." Hunter announced and he began playing a sweet song. It didn't match his character after all of the random songs he played that night.
"Skate with me?" Justin asked, even though we were already skating together.
"I mean, who else?" I gripped his hand a bit tighter, the scenery of the couples would make it embarrassing to fall.
"You got a point there." We continued to skate.
"Okay~ I see you two!" Justin turned around. Summer and John were skating hand in hand.
"I know Summer, I didn't know he was her boyfriend." I wanted to laugh at him.
"That's not her boyfriend," I cracked a smile. "That's her cousin." I laughed.
"They're related?" He looked shocked, then he began laughing. "I guess I look a little slow." He laughed and let go of my hand, I began to shake.
My roller skates pulled down on me as I prepared to fall, Justin attempted to catch me, but we ended up both falling. After a short while of silence, we laughed a little more then skated off the rink. It was probably time for me to stop anyway.
"I guess we're both slow." Justin tried to catch his breath from all the laughing. I noticed my phone ringing, it was my mom, she left twelve missed calls. This couldn't be good.
"Hello?" I asked as soon as the call connected.
"Where are you?" My mom asked, she sounded furious.
"At the skating rink with Hunter and Summer?" I was confused on why she was so angry.
"Where's John?" She asked, I remembered how exhausted she was.
"He's here with me." I answered.
"Come back home now!" Her voice echoed implying she was yelling. She was drunk.
"Whatever." I sighed, I hadn't realized I said it aloud.
"Excuse me?" I had messed up.
"I'm on my way mom." I said nervously and hung up the phone.
"What's up?" Justin looked at me, I almost forgot that he was my ride home.
"Mom needs me to head back home. I guess I did something. And I may have just made it worse." I made a crooked smile, I was unsure of what I did and I hated trouble.
"You two! We'll be in the car! John! When the skate's done, come outside!" Justin waved to the two. He dragged me outside, and we began to sat in the car. The silence was awkward.
"You okay?" He asked.
"Yeah." I lied.
"Aw come one Luze. Tell me, what's really up?" He grabbed my shoulder and pulled me as close as the seat would let us. I began to cry.
"I don't know what's up. I think my mom's drunk again." I let his warmth embrace me.
"It's okay Luze. It's okay," His fingers stroked my hair. "Tell you what, I'll introduce myself and maybe she won't be too mad." Justin perked up his tone.
"I can't" My mother never had a problem with Justin, it was Justin's mother. "It'd make her drunk rage worse." I continued to cry, I never realized how much of a crybaby I was until now.
"Luze." Justin's voice was warm.
"What?" I looked up to him, he wiped my tear and kissed me.
"Let's go out." He said before frantically looking for a tissue.
"Go out?" Did he want us to date?
"Yeah, is that a no?" Justin stared at me, it was embarrassing. I nodded my head shyly.
"Luze~ I can't understand you if you don't speak." He teased me with a grin. I looked up my him, my face was warm, his came closer to mine.
"What's up you party people?" John opened the car door with a loud entrance. I pulled away from Justin quickly.
"Just some crazy stuff." Justin said.
"Don't encourage him." I face palmed.
"Ready to head home?" John closed the door and buckled up.
"Let's hit the road." Justin turned the car on and began the drive.
"You sure you're ready?" Justin asked me as soon as he made sure John was fully asleep in the back seat.
"It's my mom. I'm sure." I looked in the mirror to make sure my eyes weren't red.
"Okay, but if you need anything just remember to call on good ol' reliable me." Justin pulled into my driveway.
"You? Reliable?" I scoffed.
"Well, I am your boyfriend now, so I have to be." I could tell he was proud of himself.
"John, wake up we're here." I was too embarrassed to talk through all of his confident talk. Especially since I thought I would never have a boyfriend in a million years, and especially a Pop!
