Life Happens

The other day as I was in a poignant mood, sitting in the car alone with my thoughts, I had an idea for the next chapter of 'Positive Thoughts, Positive Life'. It occurred to me that for all the meticulous planning a person can do, nothing will change the fact that life happens.....

There is no doubt that the more prepared you are, the more you minimise contingencies, but there will always be something you cannot account for. Call it fate if you want; there is no denying the simple fact that the course of your life can change in a split second.

Now I do not claim to have the answer to how to plan a perfect life. Hell, there's no such thing as a flawless existence. What I do know, however, is that in this present moment as you read these words, something can click in you that changes you forever. So knowing that, I have a simple request for all of you. I want you all to live in the present moment....truly, utterly and entirely. I don't mean just seeing things, I mean really seeing things: to see to see.

This is not some enigmatic concept, not at all. To see to see means to observe the world around you to render meaning and appreciation. That in itself is the definition of enjoying every moment of life and frankly, the only way to live.

In a world where things are ever-changing, it seems the only certainty is the current. There is  beauty in assuredness just as there is a beauty in the gift of the now, the present.

If life takes an unexpected turn, as is common for many of us, stressing will get you nowhere. Often new opportunities open to us, and appreciating what we have right now enables us to see these chances. Constantly living for the future is a pointless way of living because the future is not static; it is unpredictable, unforeseeable.

Live for today.
