Saturday, a day later;
As I was looking up at my leg hanging up in the air, tears freely slipped as my breathing was out of time. I sighed and shifted in my bed, looking at the pale, white, boring walls. Coach told me last night that if my leg doesn't heal before college starts, my scholarship is out of the door.
Today the professor and coach are coming into my hospital room to talk about every little detail. The more I think about it, the more I want to scream. I sighed and leaned back onto my pillow, hearing a light knock on the door making my head snap towards the eyes.
"Hey cutie," Matt walked in with the cutest smile on his face. "Hi," I said in a whisper. "You okay?" He walked towards me.
He pulled out a chair but I grabbed his hand and pulled him onto the bed. He smiled down towards me and wrapped his arm around me, pulling me close into his chest. I cuddled up to him and sighed, the thought of not doing football coming into mind.
"You'll be alright sweet," Matt kissed the top of my head.
I looked out to the room as my finger drew shapes onto Matt's chest.
"Will I?" My voice squeaked. "Yes. Now have you had any sleep?" Matt asked.
"No. I couldn't sleep. Not without you," I admitted. "Have some rest now. I'm not going anywhere," He demanded.
I nodded and yawned, soon stirring off into a deep sleep.
Matt's Point Of View;
I watched her as she stirred asleep. Her in my arms, I couldn't help but wonder why this didn't happen to me? I didn't need football in my life, she did. She needed it, she wanted it. Why do all bad things happen to good people?
I sighed deeply and went onto my phone, trying to distract my thoughts. As I was scrolling through my twitter, articles and tweets popped up about our football game and how Maddie got attacked by one of the captains. As I was reading the many articles and tweets, the door opened and Maddie's dad followed in.
"Is she asleep?" He asked.
I nodded and smiled.
"Oh. Should I come back later?" He asked. "No. You can stay," I pointed to the seat. "Cheers," He placed down some flowers.
I shrugged and watched him sit, his body sighing and relaxing in the seat. He looked at me and smiled, my lips returning the favour.
"Look, thanks for being there for her," He said out of the blue. "Anytime. She deserves to be treat like a princess," I softly chuckled.
"You have done so much for her and I'm forever grateful," He continued. "No need to thank me sir," I said.
"No I need too. I have been so horrible to her and she pushed through it all because of you," He said. I looked at Maddie and tucked her hair behind her ears, "She's a fighter."
"Yes indeed. She did amazing out there yesterday, such a shame someone broke her leg," Chad said. My smile then turned into such anger, "I just want to punch the day lights out of that dude."
"I know. Me too," Chad huffed. "She didn't deserve that. She's a girl just having fun out on the field," I said looking back at Chad.
"You did the right thing with Nash.. Punching him." I softly chuckled, "It wasn't right but he needed it."
Chad nodded and laughed.
"Who you talking too?" Maddie's voice just came above a whisper.
I looked at Maddie and she was squinting.
