The nice looking couple that I showed upstairs walk briskly towards me. They look very excited, which is a good sign.
"We have decided!" the lady exclaims.
"Fabulous!" I say. "Who have you decided on?"
The man replies smiling, "Arianna. She is a very nice girl."
I give them the adoption papers. While they are going through the papers, I ask them: "Would you like to know a bit of backround information about Arianna?"
"Sure," they answer together. I walk into the office and unlock the drawer that contains all of the children's details.
"Arianna, Arianna, Ari- Here we go!" I take the file out, lock the drawer again and go into the reception. We exchange papers. They give me the completed adoption papers and I give them the file.
"Thank you so much!" says the lady.
At that moment, Arianna comes in with her tiny suitcase.
"Ready?" I ask her. "Yes." she replies.
The lady takes her hand and the man grabs her suitcase. They walk towards the door and Arianna takes one look back, tears streaming down her cheeks. I wave at her, but she's not looking at me, she is looking towards the door to the dormitories upstairs. I glance at the door and it is slightly open. Someone is standing in the opening, tears also streaming down her face.
