~~~~~Jade’s POV:~~~~~
Zayn helps me out of the car and hands me my walking stick. I glare at him again and walk slowly up to the front door. I try to open the door, but it’s too heavy for me. In the end, Zayn opens it for me, laughing.
“Can’t you just stop laughing at me for a minute? I say angrily as I walk in, my walking stick tapping on the tiles of the house. Arianna follows me in. I don’t notice four pairs of eyes watching me.
“Would you like something, Jade?” Arianna asks me, skipping to the kitchen.
“What do you think?” I say, raising an eyebrow. She laughs and disappears into the kitchen.
It is at this moment that I realise the eyes watching me. I must have looked taken-aback when I saw them staring, because they all looked away, embarrassed. Zayn and Perrie walk in and Zayn walks towards me as Perrie goes to help Arianna in the kitchen.
“Do you need introductions, my little old lady?” he smirks.
“Can you stop doing that? I’m 16 for God’s sake! And no, I don’t need introductions.”
“But you’ve got a walking stick!”
I direct my best death stare at him.
“Ooh! Watch out Zayn! She’s out to kill!”
I turn my death stare to the boy who said that. Louis, of course.
As I’m already looking that way, I look at each boy in turn, surveying them. My eyes first fall on the curly haired Harry, who was smiling at me. I returned the smile. Then my eyes shift to Louis who is sitting next to him. I give him the death stare again and he narrows his eyes playfully. Next is Liam, who is on his phone. Louis nudges him and he looks up. Seeing me looking at him, he gives me an embarrassed smile. I reply with a smirk. Last, there is the blond guy, Niall, who looks me in the eye and gives me a twinkly smile. I smile back, noticing the nudges and smirks being passed between Harry and Louis, but I ignore them.
Arianna and Perrie come back out with snacks and I sit on one of the sofas with them, happily tucking in.
Sometimes, I feel like someone is watching me, but whenever I look up, either they’ve turned away or weren’t looking at me in the first place. I have strange things going on in my mind at the moment.
~~~~~Arianna’s POV:~~~~~

Jade looks really happy tucking into the snacks that Perrie and I prepared. I’m glad that she feels at home here.

When all the snacks are gone, Perrie and I go back into the kitchen with the plates, putting them into the dishwasher.

“Perrie?” I ask.

“Yes, Arianna?”

“Do you think it was bad of me to leave Jade by herself at the orphanage?”

“No! Of course not!” Perrie answers, too quickly.

“I mean, she got really angry when I accepted your offer. And I don’t know why.”

“I do, honey.”

I’m so surprised that I’m speechless.

“Well, when we came to the orphanage, we asked her first. If she wanted us to adopt her, that is.”

My face just looked confused. Perrie continued.

“She refused, because she said that she had a friend there that she had been with for 13 years and she didn’t want to leave her there alone.”

I look stunned and then I break down and cry into Perrie's shoulder.

“I-I was that f-friend.” I say through my tears, suddenly realising.

“Yes, you were. But that’s okay honey, we’ve got Jade back now.”

“B-But if she got a-adopted, this w-would never have h-happened.”

“Sshh” Perrie comforts me. “We’ll talk about it later. Now, if you want you can go and show her that you are sorry.”
