Bellamy's POV:

I start to slowly wake up and instantly become aware of the empty space next to me.

I open my eyes and look up to see Clarke sat up, her bare back to me.

I put my arms back beneath my head and smile "Morning!" I sigh contentedly. She turns and smiles sweetly.

"C'mon we have exploring to do!" She says excitedly and i just grin seeing her so herself when things have been very rocky recently.

She turns to get up but i quickly wrap my arms around her small waist and pull her back, i nestle my head in to her neck and she laughs adorably.

"Bellamy stop!" She giggles. I eventually let her go and she dresses. I soon follow suit. We decide to leave the tent so we can return to it at the end of the day. We eat breakfast as we set off.

Today the sky is cloudy and the air is colder but i think, Clarke's pink cheeks just make her look more beautiful.

"So what have you been doing to win my mum over?" Clarke says suspiciously and i almost falter but cover it well.

"Well thats for me to know!" I grin.

"I was expecting her to forbid me from coming, i almost left without telling her..." Clarke exclaims, her blue eyes wide.

"Well you underestimate my powers of charm, they worked on you didnt they!" I wink and Clarke laughs indignantly, her cheeks turning an even stronger shade of pink.

"Its nice here, i can hear birds singing" Clarke says quietly "i havent heard that since the first few days we spent on earth! Then camp grew and well..." Clarke breathes deeply as if content.

For a while, the only noise is the sound of our feet crunching against the bumpy forest floor, and the birds in the trees.

"Is that?" Clarke starts, speeding up "is that a bridge?"

I follow her to the edge of the trees and sure enough a very ancient wooden rope bridge crosses over a reasonably large canyon.

Clarke steps foward but i stop her.

"What?" She asks.

"Well that bridge probably hasn't been used in hundreds of years! Who knows if it's safe!" I exclaim and Clarke sighs.

"Come on its an adventure!" She cries and so, seeing her eager look, I slowly nod.

"Okay you go first" i say

"What? So you can catch me if i fall?" Clarke says, fake swooning.

"Yes." I reply very seriously.

Clarke just steps lightly onto the first plank, holding the ropes on either side of her, she steps onto the next and then the next and then i follow her.

When we reach the middle, i steal a glance down and instantly regret it. Its so high, what if one of these planks break. I gaze away from the drop beneath us, to look at Clarke, watching her every step, my heart stopping with every sudden sway or creek of the bridge.

We finally reach the other side and i breathe out in relief. "See that wasnt so bad!" Clarke laughs, bounding into the trees.

The forest is denser here and takes us a while to walk through.

"Lets go down here!" Clarke cries after a while, i peer around her to see she is heading towards a slippy looking, moss covered downward slope.

I instantly reach for her hand to help her. we inch down slowly, i dig my feet in as much as i can, when Clarke looses her footing on something, and i am just able to swing her around to me so she can grab my waist and not fall.

I look down at the blonde girl in my arms and raise my eyebrow. She frowns at me and pulls away, determined.

We eventually reach the bottom but i dont let go of her hand, and she doesnt let go of mine either.

I suddenly think of something and Clarke notices my face drop. "Whats wrong?" She asks, furrowing her eyebrows.

"I just...i just thought about Finn and where he could have gone..." I say truthfully, he hadnt been sent off with many rations so i wonder if he is even still alive...not that i would care if he wasnt...

"Finn?" Clarke says and i look at her, puzzled. "Where did Finn..." she stops and looks down thoughtfully and my heart stops, the breath catching in my throat.

"You know...you banished him from camp" i say, trying to sound casual and Clarke nods.

"Yeah yeah i know i just...havent thought about him in a while" she says but i cant help thinking thats not the full truth. "We should start heading back" she states, already turning around. I dont argue.

She is silent all the way back, stumbling over her own feet, her lost hand feeling so far from my own, as she removed it at some point.

"Are you sure there isnt another way?" I groan, when we reach the rope bridge again.

"Bellamy Blake i didnt take you to be such a scaredy cat!" Clarke chuckles.

"Its not my safety im worried about!" I say and Clarke smiles sympathetically. I sigh and let her go first.

We are about 3 quarters of the way accross when the bridge starts to sway slightly violently in the wind. We both stop and i cry out Clarke's name when the silence is broken by a loud snap...
