Chapter 18

It was just about time to go to dinner. I wore a red dress, which Pony likes because he said it brings out my light brown eyes. I attempted to where mascara, but it never seems to look good. I tried to look good even though inside I felt like shit. This happens every time , I get stomach aches, head aches, I get dizzy, all because I didn't get pregnant. Figures!

"Knock, knock!"

I heard Jess say from the other side of my door. I giggled. I opened the door and saw her smiling on the other side. She was wearing a black skirt with a white blouse tucked into it. She looked a lot less greaser than she normally does.

"I'm starving. When are we gonna go?"

Jess asked me. Ponyboy walked out of the bathroom and kissed me on the cheek. Jess winked at me. I smiled at her. I told her that we both did it, and now she won't stop teasing me.

"Let's go!"

I said, and we walked out of our apartment.

We drove up to the Curtis household and I was so excited to see everyone, considering its been a couple of weeks. I got out of the car, and Pony opened the door for Jess. He winked at me. We walked in to Steve and Soda, playing cards, Two watching Mickey (what else is new), and Shanna and Darry talking at the kitchen table.

"Eyyyy, Ponyboy! What's going on?"

Soda ran up to him and messed with his hair. Ponyboy laughed and shooed him off.

"Lucy! It feels like its been such a long ti-"

He was cut off when he saw Jess. She was standing by the doorway, smiling at Soda.

"And who is this young lady, Lucy?"

"This is Jess, she lives on our floor. Jess, this is Sodapop, Ponyboy's older brother."

I said smiling.

"No wonder you two are brothers. Two fine looking boys."

Soda shot her a classic smile. She blushed. He raised her hand and kissed it ever so gently.

"Very nice to meet your acquaintance, Jess."

I chuckled and left them alone to talk as I walked over to Darry and Shanna. Shanna smiled and got up and hugged me.

"Lucy! You look...different! Something about you makes you look different- I don't know what though!"

I smiled and laughed.

"Still the same Lucy!"

"But you have a certain twinkle in your eye..."

I blushed and looked down at my feet, then back up at her again.

"Is that what I think it means?!"

She asked me. I laughed and nodded. She was one of the only ones who knew that Pony and I were both virgin, so I knew what she meant.

"Congratulations! Was it any good?"

"Shanna!"

I shot a sarcastic smile at her, but she expected an answer anyway.

"Yes, it was very sweet. He made sure I was okay and everything. It was a good experience for sure."

I said, and she winked at me.

"It doesn't sound like his brother at all."

I laughed and saw Darry pretending not to listen, even though I knew he was. Two-bit came up behind me and picked me up and lifted me over his head, to my surprise. Didn't know he was that strong!

"Two, but her down, will ya?"

Ponyboy demanded. Two-bit just laughed and put me back down.

"Good to see ya again, Two-bit."

I said, while he continued to laugh.
