It wasn't until around 2 in the morning that we went to sleep. We just talked and talked for hours, while Rosie slept in her crib.

"Oh, Luc, I forgot to ask you. My boss is having this dinner tomorrow night at some nice place. I didn't know if you wanted to go or not..."

I thought about it for a second.

"Sure, I'd go. Where's the baby gonna go?"

"I'll ask Darry if he'll take her. Shanna and him won't mind."

He smiled reassuringly.

"Alright. Well, what do I have to wear? I don't have anything nice or fancy or anything, just a bunch of old dresses."

I said to him. He got out of the bed and bent down to the ground. He reached under the bed and pulled out a brown bag with a pretty design on it. He lifted up a beautiful green paisley dress (he liked green on me the best).

"Oh, Ponyboy."

"Do you like it? I hope you do...I wasn't sure."

I smiled and gave him a hug.

"I love it! Thank you."

"Anything for you, Lucy. I know you're going to look gorgeous in that dress, so you don't have to worry about picking out anything."

I smiled as I laid back down in bed. Boy, was I tired. I needed sleep. Ponyboy put the box back under the bed and pushed me over to my side of the bed. He put his long arm around me as he massaged his hands with mine. It wasn't long before I fell into a deep, long slumber.
