Dinner was lobster and some weird type of salad. I hated seafood and the salad had some odd sort of cheese in it. I was very low maintenance, especially when I comes to food. I kept pushing everything around my plate as I listened to others taking around me.

Pony and I were the only people not engaging in conversation. I had no idea who any of these people were.

"So, Lucy, what do you do?"

I was shocked that someone asked me a question. I looked up at Ponyboy, as helpless as I, and looked back at the man who asked me.

"I actually stay at home. I watch our baby."

Everyone looked at us, shocked.

"Ponyboy, I didn't know you had any kids! You're so young!"

Mr. Keen said. I looked over at Jack, who looked disgusted.

"Oh, Mr.Keen. It's actually a funny story. You see, our baby isn't actually ours. Well, she was our best friends baby, and they died in a car wreck not too long ago, and we got full custody of the baby, sir. So, Ponyboy works all day while I watch Rosie."

All of the women at the table put their hands on their heart or over their mouthes in shock. Mr.Keen looked at us in awe.

"And how old are you both?"

"I'm nineteen and she's eighteen, sir."

Ponyboy said to him.

"Well, at least we know it's not actually yours"

Jack said from across the table. I placed my fork down.

"You don't understand, she is our daughter. Though she may not be genetically similar to Ponyboy or I, she is as close to a daughter as she can get. So although she might not have originally been ours, she is now."

I argued. Jack rolled his eyes as I defended myself. Ponyboy held my hand and squeezed it, knowing that I was getting frustrated.

After that, everyone continued on to regular conversation, and as the night progressed, it was getting more and more tiresome to listen to.

"I think Lucy and I are going to head home. We have to go pick up our baby from my brothers. Thank you so much for inviting us to your house, sir."

Ponyboy said to Mr.Keen.

"My pleasure, son. Anytime. And you, Miss Lucy, you are a very lucky lady to have him in your life. He's a good man."

He said to me. I smiled at Ponyboy as he blushed.

"I know, sir. Thank you for everything."

I said to him as we walked out of the big, shining, house.
