Ponyboy came home with milk and a pizza in the other. Thank god, is didn't want to cook tonight.

Jess stayed over for pizza with us. She said it gets pretty lonely in her apartment when she's eating there alone.

"So, Ponyboy, how's your job going?"

Asked Jess,

"It's going really well, actually. My boss is a pretty neat guy if he likes you, but, if he doesn't, he can be a really ass to deal with. I guess that's just work though."

She nodded in agreement.

"Nobody at the diner wants to talk to me because I'm pregnant and 19, like it's some sort of disease or something."

She said. I frowned. People can be so cruel.

"We'll, anyway, I better get going. I think I'm gonna get a little extra sleep tonight. Thank you, though."

She smiled as she walked out of the house.

All of a sudden, I began to hear screaming from in the hall. I could hear a man and a woman. I opened the door to see a large man yelling a Jess. He towered over her, as he was much taller than any man I knew.

"Listen, you wench, it's my hour, and I

expect you to do what I say, or you're not getting any money!"

He screamed at her. Her helpless face began to cry.

"I told you, sir, I don't do that anymore. I'm pregnant now."

"You whore!"

He slapped her across the face, which forced her to the ground. He then began to punch her in the stomach, where the baby probably was. Tears began to stain my cheeks. I ran up to him to try to get him to stop, but, he pushed me down as well.

"You think you can get your little friend to protect you? You naive little bitch!"

He said, proceeding to beat her more. He threw a few punches at me as well. We were both crying.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?"

Ponyboy came out of our apartment to save us, finally. He punched the man in the face real hard. He fell to the ground, and the man was utterly defenseless.

"Didn't your daddy teach you that beating girls means you're a coward? Now get outta here before I kill you!"

Ponyboy screamed. I've never seen him so angry before. The man angrily huffed and got up, and then ran off.

Ponyboy ran up to us and began to help us up.

"Are you guys alright?"

I said I was, but, it was obvious that Jess wasn't. She clutched her stomach and walked into our apartment.

Guess we have a guest tonight.
