We ended our night by having a conversation about rumbles and socs. Just what I loved talking about. Surprisingly, socs have been staying on their side of town, not bothering us too much anymore.
It's weird what can change in such a short time.
We left the Curtis house after about 1 in the morning, typical for us. Soda was so kind to Jess. I think she really liked him a lot. What's not to like about Sodapop? He's kind, handsome, and gives amazing advice. I knew they would like each other.
I was half asleep when we got in the car to go home. Ponyboy had to start his new job early the next morning, so we had to sleep soon. Jess kept on talking about how much she loved the gang and Soda and I was about to sleep. I was happy and all, but I couldn't keep my eyes open. Good thing Ponyboy was driving!
We drove into the parking space in front of our apartments. Jess was still talking, but no one was listening. Pony got on my side and lifted me out of the car.
"No, I can walk."
I said, trying to squirm out of his arms. He tightened his grip and continued forward.
"Thanks, you guys, for introducing me to everyone. I had lots of fun! Night!"
Jess said. Ponyboy smiled at her and I tiredly waved.
"Goodness, you really are tired, huh?"
He asked me. I nodded. I remembered that I had to take care of business, so I got out of his arms, went to the bathroom, changed, and nearly crawled to bed. I threw on a shirt and laid in bed. Ponyboy soon did the same, turning off the lights.
"I have to go to work in 7 hours. Lets go to bed, my love. You're too tired."
He smiled at me and kissed my cheek. I just smiled and closed my eyes.
"I love you."
We say at the same time.
