*PONYBOYS POV*
I walked into a large building that said "TT" on the front, representing "Tulsa Times". I was feeling a mixture of both anxiety and pure excitement.
"Hello there, my name is Ponyboy Curtis. I'm just starting here today."
I said to the young lady at the front desk. She looked up and smiled.
"Well, hello there, Mr. Curtis. I'm Marge. I will show you to your desk."
She said, leading me to the other side of the office. Everyone who worked at the Times seemed to look a lot older than I. They have probably been working here for their entire lives.
"Here is your desk. Enjoy."
She winked at me, and then walked away. I always had people flirting with me. I didn't like it one bit. Even though I know it's supposed to be flattering, it just feels like I'm dishonoring Lucy, and I would never hurt her.
A large man with a brunette comb-over walked over to my desk. I stood up and shook his hand.
"John Putnam, and you are?"
"Ponyboy Curtis, sir. Nice to meet you."
I said to him. He looked up and down at me. He was unsure of me at first, but then he grinned at me.
"Nice to meet you too, son. Here are some forms I would like you to fill out. Bring them to my office when you're finished and I will give you more to fill out. Welcome to the Times."
He left a pile of papers about the size of a book and then left. I looked down at the intimidating amount of work and then remembered Lucy and what she said earlier. Just get through today and then I can look forward to seeing her. Almost a reward.
I began to fill the paperwork out with a smile on my face.
