Prologue
“Goodnight! I’ll see you guys later,” I waved good-bye to my friends.
“Ok, we had fun. Thanks for coming with us,” Maisie shouted.
“No problem, we should do it again sometime,” I shouted back.
I walk into my house and find my Dad in the living room watching a football game and drinking a beer.”Hey Dad, I just got back from the movies.” I said at the doorframe of the living room.
“Good, now go make yourself useful and grab me another beer.”Dad slightly slurred.
“Yes sir,” I responded. I went into the kitchen and grabbed a cold beer from the fridge. Walking into the living room, I handed the beer to Dad.”Here you go Dad. I’m going to bed because I have work tomorrow ok?”
“Whatever, just go. You’re interrupting my game.” He replies seeming distracted.
I rush upstairs not wanting to really get acknowledged by him. When I walk into my room I set my purse on my desk chair and walk into my walk-in-closet for some Pjs. I settle for a tank top with some black short shorts, hoping nothing else happens tonight. I walk back into my room and crawl onto my bed getting comfortable before allowing the darkness to take over.
Thunk. Thunk. Thunk… Thunk.
I continue to lay in bed feeling nervous and afraid.
Thunk. Thunk. Thunk. Bam!
“Baby, open up for Daddy please?” Dad slurs his words.”Come on! I promise I won’t bite… Much. Hahaha.”A few moments pass and I make no movements to open the door.”Baby, just open the goddamn door! You don’t want me to have to open it for you!” He yells. I stay lying in bed wishing that he could just ignore me and go to his room for the night. But I should know better than to think that because nothing ever goes my way. Then the door bursts open revealing my drunk father with an empty beer can in his hand.”Fucking bitch, you’ll pay for not listening to me. Now come here!”
“Please Dad, don’t do this.” I whimpered.
“Why should I listen to you when you don’t listen to me? So I think it’s only fair for me to do this.” He walks closer to me but I try to crawl away from him. I was too slow because he grabbed my wrist and pulled me to him, hard.”You don’t listen very well do you? I’ll MAKE you listen then.” He sneers, climbing on top of me and pulling my shirt off of me along with my bra. I try to get him to stop but he just grabs my hands and puts them above my head with one of his hands. He moves his other hand down my body and grips hard on my shorts and underwear and yanks them off. I begin to cry but he just tightens his grip on my wrists making me wince in pain.”Be a good little girl and shut up,” he growls. Then he messes with his pants and opens my legs.
“Dad, PLEASE!” I scream. He roughly enters into my core making me bleed again. Then he begins to thrust into a constant rhythm.
“I love you baby girl,” he whispers in my ear. I feel tears streaming down my face.”You’ll always be my little girl, won’t you? My sweet, innocent little gi-
I jolt awake with sweat dripping into my eyes. Trying to calm my rapidly beating heart and panting breath.
Knock, knock.”C-come in,” I stuttered.
“Hey, sweetie, I’m back from work. How was the movies yesterday?” My Mom walked in asking.
“Oh, it was, uuh, fine. Just fine, thanks. And how was work?” I asked.
“It was ok, a little stressing because of the parents that were freaking out about their child being in a car accident. But luckily I wasn’t too busy. I’m glad that you had fun, I’m going to bed though, and I don’t have to work today so we’re going to have a good family dinner, ok?” Mom said.
“Oh, ok. That sounds great, but I’ll be getting home a little later today because of my Daycare job.” I replied.
“Yeah, I know. Here,” she threw me the keys to her car.”You can drive the car today since I won’t need it. Just be careful, that’s all I ask.”
“Yes, ma’am, I’ll be careful, don’t worry.” I smiled reassuringly.”Anyway, I got to get ready for work. And I need to text Evelyn that I won’t need a ride.”
“Ok well, bye and have a good day,” Mom begins to leave the room but turns around and looks me in the eyes.”I love you, sweetie.”
“I love you too Mom,” I smile as she shuts my door, leaving me to get ready. I grab my phone and see that I have at least an hour to get ready. Before I jump in the shower, I quickly send a text to Evelyn.
Me: Brrwin Mom’s car 4 the day, talk 2 ya 18tr!
Evelyn: Kk, txt me l8tr, love ya gurl!
I walk out of my bathroom wrapped in a towel and walk into my walk-in-closet. Not really caring for my clothes, I grab faded grey sweats, a black tank top, my brother’s old grey sweatshirt, and some white flip-flops. I rush downstairs and reach for an apple and a water bottle from the kitchen.”Bye, I’m off to work.”I mumble and locked the door behind me, and start towards the car.”Well, here goes nothing.” Throwing my hair into a lazy ponytail, I start the ignition, back out the driveway, and head to the daycare.
