Broken Pieces

Bits of broken pieces

     scattered

                         by the wind

                                        and gravity. 

Each piece uniquely

          rough 

                    or smooth. 

Broken by the

                                 fall

                   or were

                                     previously

                                                    B

                                                                   E

                                                                         N. 

Pieces made smaller, 

                                      sharper, 

                              by a simple

                                                 accident;

                              a simple

                                                  mistake. 

Each piece gazing skyward, 

                       shining brightly

                        or laden with dullness. 

Bits of broken pieces

once an entire masterpiece

                            just scattered

                                                       on the floor.
