A Day at the Park

Have you ever watched a cloud morph?

Every molecule of water

Rising above the atmosphere

Invisible to our eyes

To form the majesty

In which angels live,

That watch over the meek

As well as the strong.

Have you ever counted the ripples in the pond?

Barely touching the surface with

The very top layer of skin

On your finger,

Trying to feel like the

Fish beneath it's surface,

As the circle enlarges

Till it's gone forever.

Have you ever counted the leaves on the tallest oak tree?

Watching the squirrels run from

Branch to branch,

Fearing for their lives.

Or how about the view of a full nest

Within a branch's crevice,

Are you earnest in waiting

to see what the eggs will bring into this world?

Have you ever stepped over a small insect?

Wondering what if that life

Was yours to live,

To gather to survive,

crawling miles everyday.

Having to wake up, if insects even sleep,

to the idea that something could squash you

That very instant.

Have you ever listened to the song of the robin?

Trying to translate it

Note by note.

Listening to the others join in

Like a choir

Wishing to create noise

That made living souls

Feel that warm.
