This is dedicated to Solus_Lupus, my newest follower, and once again to Cory Bishop. All of you need to be thankful to him, for two reasons.
A) He gave me the courage to post this story in the first place
B) He kept me going when I was on the verge of deleting this story. Forever. So we thank him. Also, sorry this sucks, I'm kinda sick at the moment :/

The next day passes rather uneventfully. I keep Justin and Carter close to me all day, and we basically lounge on my bed. I stream a couple of old-time movies from a few decades ago, in 2013, when most movies were 2D. All movies are 3D now.
Carter draws picture after picture, then flips through them and I see he's made a flipbook.
A tall, feminine figure bends down and picks up a small humanoid shape while rain pelts down.
Two small figures hug each other in the palm of a giant hand.
Pictures flicker across a TV screen.
I smile and rub Carter's head of crazy curls. "Quite the Donatello, eh Kitty?"
He shrugs and nuzzles his head against my finger.
"Do you want to take the art supplies with you when we leave?"
"W-w-we are l-le-leaving?" he asks me.
"Yes. We are running away, tonight, to keep you two safe from your parents. And mine, cause they'll turn you in first chance they get," I say.
"W-wh-where are w-we g-going?" he asks, curious.
"Home," Justin says, climbing over my chest to Carter. "We're going to Michigan."
"Why are we going to Michigan, again?" I ask.
"Because Carter and I used to live in this little island called Isle Royale, and the quickest way to get there without crossing international borders into Canada is through Michigan's Upper Peninsula. If my memory serves me correctly, the Anti-Serum is still hidden in the woods of Isle Royale."
"Wait..... Anti-Serum?" I ask, stunned.
"Yeah. If we can get that in our systems -"
"W-w-we will b-be N-No-No-No-No"
Carter stammers like a broken record until I tap his head lightly. "-Normals," he finishes. "W-we will b-be like y-y-you."
"Michigan it is," I say.
A/N: I'm not very good w/ U.S. geography, bear with me:)
****THAT NIGHT****
I pack sparingly. A black backpack contains a spare change of clothes, all the money that I have with me, my phone and charger. An atlas with our route clearly marked and a list of useful rest points. Spare clothes for Justin and Carter, Carter's sketch pad and pencils.
I dress on black jeans, black sneakers, and a black hoodie. I turn the phone off, pull the hood up, and slip Carter and Justin into the pocket of my sweatshirt.
We leave the house at midnight. I climb onto a bike that I got in a trade at the scrap yard - it just needed a new chain - and spray painted black, and pedal as fast as I can.
We're in Ohio by sunrise.
