"Do you believe that there were stories written in the stars?" He asked silently one night—mostly to himself—where they both were lying in bed, a thick, white duvet covering their bodies. The stars were littering the night sky, making a beautiful silver halo around Tyler's bare body, where the sheet doesn't cover.
Joshua once read somewhere that 93% of the mass of the human body is stardust, which, could may or may not be true, he doesn't know. Though, he felt so grateful thinking, that a long time ago, someone had wished upon a star, wishing for a beautiful star with the name of Tyler.
And now Joshua is the one who gets to hold said star in his arms. To Joshua, Tyler is made of stardust, and according to what Joshua once read, everyone is made up of stardust. But, also according to Joshua, no one shines the way Tyler does.
People like to see stars in the sky, they'll point to the brightest one and say, "look! The brightest star is out tonight!" With a smile on their face. Joshua wanted to be the star people would point at. He wanted to be the brightest star in the whole universe. Technically, he is part of the universe just because he's made of stardust.
But in order to be the brightest of the stars, he must be burned first. He must erupt and create such a beautiful, blinding light. Or in other words, he must sacrifice first to put a smile on other people faces. And with the more he thinks about it, Joshua hadn't sacrificed enough.
Sure he put a smile on many faces, tons of 'em, Tyler especially. But if someone asked him, "what did you sacrifice to be the way you are?" He wouldn't have the answer.
Unlike Tyler, on the other hand. Tyler is the one who absolutely deserves to be pointed at because he gives a reason for people to smile. He shines and gives light to other people during the dark nights, and—most importantly—he has already sacrificed so much.
Tyler is not the sun, no, he's a massive star that glows brighter than that, before blowing up in a huge explosion, creating a supernova. A supernova that held such a large mass of stars. A mass of stars that shines a billion times brighter than the silly sun and will make a beautiful constellation in the sky. A constellation that told stories about kindness, love, and beauty.
In the dark room with only moonlight and stars in the sky, Joshua stares at the boy who's lying beside him. Tyler, gosh, he's always been so beautiful to Joshua. With the slow rise and fall of his chest, a soft snore coming from his beautiful lips, his honey-colored skin that represented a sunset deep within the summer sky. His fluffy brown hair that's oh so soft like clouds in the sky during those summer days, his plump, gorgeous pink lips that are equivalent to flowers that bloom during Spring, his mesmerizing mocha eyes that Joshua could get lost in for hours on end. Oh, and his cute little button nose.
"I can feel you staring, Joshy." Tyler said startling Joshua from his thoughts. "What are you doing at," he paused, "what time's it?"
"12:48 in the morning, Babe. M'just thinking 'bout stuff." He replied softly, tracing Tyler's beautifully inked skin with his fingertips.
"What kinda stuff were you thinking about so late at night?" Tyler asked. "Actually, y'know what? Never mind, don't mind my question, let's just sleep and you can think about that stuff later." Tyler quickly replied, not giving Joshua any time to answer, nuzzling his face into the junction of Joshua's neck and shoulder. Little did Tyler know, that he was the beautiful thing that ever occupied his mind.
"Will you marry me?" Joshua said, hoping he'd get a reaction out of the boy. Tyler opened one of his eyes, taking a peek at Joshua. He smiled sleepily at him. "You know I won't say yes without a ring, right? You know the drill Dun, court me properly and m'all yours." Tyler said, winking.
Joshua huffed, a quiet chuckle escaping his thin lips as he saw the sparkle of Tyler's eyes until he decided, yeah, he really wants to spend the rest of his life with this shining star.
With Tyler's finger twisting the fluffy tufts of hair above his head, Joshua exclaimed an I love you, kissing Tyler's forehead. Tyler hummed in contentment, "m'love you too. Now let's go back to sleep." He replied, fixing their position so he's rested comfortably.
Joshua placed his head on top of Tyler's, slightly inhaling his love's wondrous scent. Tyler smells of his coconut shampoo, his vanilla lotion, hinted with a bit of cinnamon, he smells of love, he smells like home.
With his little love sleeping peacefully sleeping beside him, Joshua drifted off to sleep with a smile on his face.
