haven't been feelin' the greatest lately. i was going to write a sad one shot but i need some happiness in my life.

here's a high school au. tyler has a stutter (i love stutters, they're so cute) and joshua makes sure their first date goes as smooth as possible.

Joshua has one regret—telling Tyler he would take care of everything for their first date. Honestly, he doesn't know what came over him, if it's his ego or what, but now he's realizing what a huge mistake he's made.

Joshua has been wracking his brain all week trying to find a good idea for a first date, and nothing seems good enough, or fun enough, or original enough. He's at the end of his rope and he doesn't want Tyler to mistaken his lack of confirmation of plans for second thoughts. So, Joshua swallows up his pride and decides the best way to go is honesty.

Joshua ❤️: So, I need your help with something...

Joshua only has to wait a couple of minutes before he has a reply.

Ty-Guy 🐛: just name it and i can see what i can do :')

Joshua ❤️: Well, it's like rlly embarrassing but I figure you can push past the laughter to help me.

Ty-Guy 🐛: i won't laugh at you, joshy, promise.

Joshua ❤️: So, I'm supposed to be organizing an awesome date for this shy, smart, gorgeous guy I'm seeing, but I can't seem to find anything good enough for our first date. I want it to be special. See my problem?

Ty- Guy 🐛: indeed, you have quite the dilemma on your hands.

Joshua ❤️: Exactly. So what do you suggest?

Ty-Guy 🐛: it seems to me like if this guy's as great as you say he is, he won't need anything extravagant to blow him away. it's the company that'll make the evening special, so you could take him to a dinner and a movie and he'd probably be over the moon.

Joshua ❤️: Dinner and a movie? You really think so?

Ty-Guy 🐛: mhm, the dinner will give you plenty of time to have good conversation while the movie will allow for casual physical contact—seems like a good balance to me.

Joshua ❤️: Thx for the insightful piece of advice. I appreciate it, bub.

Tyler gets up from the living room couch, ready to head upstairs and change his shirt again when his mom stops him.

"Honey, your shirt is fine, really," she tells him.

"Just like the previous four you had on," Tyler's dad mutters.

"I'm j-just nerv-vous," Tyler informs them as if they couldn't tell already.

"And it's okay to be nervous," his mom reassures him. "It's your very first date after all," she says almost proudly.
