this one is a bit sad

writing stories while sad is never a good idea, just letting you know

in which Joshua is so overwhelmed by his emotions, to the point of him pushing away the person he loves the most.

unedited, please excuse any mistakes. i'm super tired, and didn't feel like reading through over 4000 words. i'll probably edit this tomorrow morning.

enjoy.

The slamming of a door echoes through the small apartment causing Tyler to jump slightly in fright, letting out a yelp. But you can't really blame him, it's not like he was expecting it. Walking further into the empty hallway, Tyler begins to run his hand along the bare wall, observing the space before him and taking in a deep breath.

What used to be a lively home, who'd never fail to make him feel welcomed, was now something dull and unsettling. The reason was quite obvious to Tyler, really. He continued to run his fingers along the walls before stopping in front of the thermostat. He lets his slim, delicate fingers work the dial, setting it on a medium-high heat. Though, he was unsure if the heater would actually help with the chilling feeling of the apartment.

He makes his way to the kitchen, enjoying the soothing silence that had filled the air for a while now, it was nice but it wasn't something Tyler wanted to get use to. He puts the small Tupperware that was left on the counter from earlier that day, in the microwave. Leftovers probably weren't the most ideal meal for tonight, but it'll just have to do.

Leaning against the counter, Tyler runs a hand through his hair, waiting for the food to finish warming up. He begins to tap his fingers against the marble surface, attempting to distract himself. He didn't want to think for now, he just wanted to ignore everything for tonight. But knowing him, he's more than well aware that he can't ignore just anything.

An alarming beeping noise broke him out of his thoughts, making Tyler jump for the second time that night. He grabs the hot container from the microwave, yelling as the heat makes contact with his skin. Quickly rushing back over to the countertop, Tyler puts the container down and sighs in relief.

He continues to retrieve two small bowls from the cabinet, filling them with bubbling leftover chili. He looks at the food in front of him, a hint of distaste on his face. In all reality, he had no other choice but to eat it, because he was that hungry. Tyler shakily spoons in the hot food, swallowing it as fast as he can, wanting to avoid the horrid taste of the food he had made two nights ago. Tyler had never really been a good cook.

He closes his eyes; savoring in the though of it being a shitty meal for a shitty afternoon. Tyler managed to crack a smile at that thought, the first smile to form on his face for a long while.

Grabbing the two bowls with his shaky hands, Tyler begins to approach the bedroom with an unusual nervous feeling in the pit of his stomach. Managing to knock on the door with his foot, being as his hands were full, Tyler waits painstakingly for the door to open. And when the door is finally agape, Tyler's eyes immediately make contact with a pair of tired brown ones. These were the same eyes that would tug at his heartstrings every time he would stare into them. The longer he stared into those beautiful, yet dull eyes, the stronger the feeling of guilt grew in the pit of Tyler's stomach.
