today, i'll be presenting you with a fluffy one shot.

i hope you semi-enjoy this.

"Joshy?" Tyler's voice wafts through the house from the back door, which happens to be the only thing protecting him from the raging storm outside. "Why do you think rain rains?"

Joshua walks in, nursing two hot cups of freshly made hot-chocolate. He makes his way over to Tyler, who's leaning on the sliding glass door with eyes on the outside world. Joshua has seen him like this before. Content, quiet, and decent. This Tyler is Joshua's favorite.

Joshua repeats what Tyler had asked, "why do I think rain rains?"

"Mhm."

"Hmm," Joshua holds out Tyler's mug of hot chocolate. Tyler's eyes are fixed at the liquid slipping down the aperture before his smudged nose. "Why do you think rain rains?"

"I asked you first, Joshua."

Joshua sighs, setting the mugs down on the living room table. Tyler keeps to himself, a very quiet person, anyone can realize that. Though, Tyler tends to be open about many, many personal things, especially with Joshua.

It's almost as if Tyler is the loudest person in the world, his heart just as big as his god forsaken mouth, but his mind is larger than life. It's as if he's got his own theories about everything natural, like he knows the Earth for her secrets. And Joshua absolutely loves it. He absolutely loves him.

"Okay, well, uh..." Joshua abandons the heated beverages and wraps his arms around Tyler's midriff. If he's quite frank, he's drawing at blanks with the subject of rain. He hasn't studied things like Tyler always does.

"When I was younger, my mother used to tell me that it was just God crying for the amount of deaths that happened when he wasn't looking. I'd always get scared because I didn't want him to not always watch over me."

"You still believe in Him?" Tyler asks, his voice distant as if he were focused on what made the rain fall if gravity didn't.

Joshua set his chin atop Tyler's head, "I don't know, honestly. But anyways, I grew up, and I learned why rain rained. I haven't really questioned it since. I think in a metaphorical sense, that rain rains because what else would it do? What else is there for water to do but rise up and fall?"

Tyler is quiet from there on out. It's not rude, nor unexpected. If anything, the quiet makes Joshua comfortable as they stand, united, gazing outside at the ceasing day. When thunder makes the house rattle lowly, Tyler speaks again. And once more, Tyler surprises Joshua with another question.
