I stepped off of the boat and stretched. I wasn't happy about being in Brazil, but I really didn't have a choice, did I? Besides, if the "me-being-a-fugitive" part was in the other world, then I wouldn't be in trouble, right?
"Hey, you there!" A dreaded voice yelled, "Did you take my necklace?!"
"No sir!" I replied automatically. He must have been suspicious because he came up and stared at my neck. He then stared at my breifcase and asked to look through it.
"If it makes you feel more comfortable," I shrugged, forgetting that my ornate necklace was in one of the pockets. The man searched for hidden pockets and eventually found the one that the necklace was hidden in.
"This is mine!" He sounded astounded.
"No, my grandma gave it to me," I was about to cry. This was the SECOND TIME this had happened.
Allen grabbed my shoulder, "So this is what happened?"
"Yes," I replied miserably.
"Police! This girl stole my necklace!" The man screamed to the officers nearby. I stood there with my mouth wide open, and the police grabbed my arms.
Now, my Innocence didn't like that.
My skin flashed burning hot, and the officers released my arms as quickly as they had grabbed on.
"What's wrong with her skin?!" One yelled.
"I have no idea, but it's strange," Another sounded frustrated.
"My Innocence doesn't like you," I smiled, my voice slightly dreamy. They stared at me like I was crazy for a moment, then they saw the Black Order's rose cross on the front of my uniform.
"You may go," One of the police officers shooed me off. The jeweler looked shocked.
"What do you mean, 'You may go'?! She stole-" The man started.
"I didn't steal anything! Maybe my grandma stole this at one point, even though I doubt it, but it belongs to me. I don't want to even see you anymore, so you'd better not screw with me!" I slapped the man in the face. Rosen and Allen looked astonished, then they almost started cracking up. I grinned at them, and we walked away as a group, but not before I heard this:
"I will get you back for this, ya hear?! This is my turf, and no one is allowed to get away with getting away!" The jeweler muttered under his breath.
I just waved my hand in a "I-really-could-care-less" manner of voice. I could hear him growl in anger, and I laughed to myself.
"You seem awfully cocky," Allen raised an eyebrow, "Aren't you scared of his revenge?"
"Nope," I replied popping the "p", "I'm not worried at all. There isn't much a jerkface like him can do."
"That's true..." Allen walked alongside me as we looked for an inn to enter.
~"~"~
I shot up out of bed. Allen was sleeping in another room, and I was obviously the only one awake. Seeing that my window was wide open, I stumbled over to it and attempted to shut it closed. I was struggling A LOT when I noticed something moving on the street.
"What the crap?" I asked myself, and pulled on my Exorcist uniform. I looked outside and my eyes widened. There was a young woman being cornered by a Level 1 akuma.
"Aww crap!" I cursed to myself.
Thinking quickly, I whispered, "Innocence, activate!"
My claw formed crystal around my hands, it's usual form. I didn't need much more for a Level 1. I leapt down to the street and snuck up closer to the monster. It was about to fire it's gun when I realized the woman was in grave danger. *sees your glare* Hey! I was tired!
I yelled in order to get the akuma's attention, "Oi! You! Face me, you little puppy kicker!"
My mind is a strange, demented place.
It stared at me, then looked at my cross symbol. The akuma's soul was hovering just above it, the soul of a chained man. The akuma's body must have been a friend of the young lady's whose heart was broken by the passing of her husband. As it stared at me, I gave a pitying smile and sprinted up to it. I sliced right through the akuma and it's soul touched my face, saying "Thanks."
The victim of the attack just stared at me with wide eyes, and I deactivated my claws. The woman started sobbing, and I smiled an placed my arm on her shoulders. She cried and cried, then collected herself.
"What are you?" She asked me.
"I'm-" I started to answer.
"That's not what I'm asking! What are you?" She repeated.
"I'm an Exorcist." Her eyes widened at my comment, and she scooted away from me.
"W-what?!" Her eyes held fear, "They all said the Exorcists would kill us, not save us!"
"Who said this?" I asked kindly.
"T-t-the mayor!" She replied.
"Can we meet this mayor? He sounds like an interesting person." My face held no emotion, but inside, I was screaming with rage. WHAT KIND OF PERSON WOULD SAY THAT BEFORE EVEN KNOWING US?!?! then I thought with a groan, Kaaaaaaaaaannnddaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... Or... maybe the mayor sells souls! Nah, I doubt it... The mayor sounds like a guy who just got the wrong idea! I hope...
"Bethany, what are you doing down there?" Allen called from his balcony.
"Um... Killing akuma and being nice?" I stared into his silver eyes. They were a lot like mine, but mine were... different. His were darker, and mine looked more like...
"AWW CRAP, WHERE'S SHIRUBA?!" I panicked. Shiruba appeared out from under my short jacket, and I sighed in relief.
"That reminds me... Timcanpy?" Allen asked. Timcanpy appeared out of nowhere, and perched himself on Allen's shoulder.
"Ah, there you are-" Allen was cut of by the sound of an eerie, creepy voice.
"Hello~? Is anyone theeere~?" It asked, then walked out of the shadows. I gasped, hiding the akuma victim from seeing it. Allen gasped as well, and hid his own eyes in horror.
"It's soul..." He whispered.
"It's so...hurt." I stared at the beastly thing in front of me.
"Helloo~ theeeere~!" It grinned, then walked towards me, it's eyes hanging out of it's sockets, flesh rotting, head bleeding. I gagged from the sight of it, and gave Allen pleading eyes. He understood and jumped down. Allen took the akuma victim and ran off, leaving me to fend for myself for a little while.
"So... you're the 'zombie'?"
