The next day
*Hanna's POV*

I couldn't sleep last night. I tossed and turned for hours. I couldn't stop thinking about Caleb. Did I do the right thing? Was he really being honest? If I give him a second chance, then how do I know he won't hurt me again?

All of these things were running through my mind when morning came. After a few more hours of tossing and turning, I decide to finally get out of bed and walk downstairs.

"Hey Honey!" My mom says sipping on her coffee."You're up early!"

I take a seat next to her.
"Yeah, I uh, I couldn't sleep." I admit truthfully. My mom frowns.

"What's wrong?" she asks concerned. I take a deep breath before talking.

"Caleb came by yesterday." I say in a huff. "He asked me for a second chance."

My mom is quiet for a while. I don't think she knows how to respond.

"Oh," she says after a while. "what did you do?" I sigh.

"I told him no. This isn't the first time he's walked out on me, and I can't keep letting him hurt me. I'm scared that if I let him back into my life, I will just end up getting hurt again. I don't want to jeopardize my child's life either with a father who's only there half of the time. I grew up with a father who's only present for part of my life, and I hate it."

The second those words leave my mouth, I wish I could take them back. I glance at my mom. She's staring at the floor, looking ashamed.

"Mom, I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that." I attempt to defend myself.

"No," my mom cuts me off. "Its okay, I hate it too. You did the right thing by telling Caleb no. I wouldn't want your child to have parents with a relationship like your father and I either."

I smile sadly at my mom, and she does the same.

"Well, I should get going." my mom says standing up. "Things are going to work out, I just know it. You're a very strong girl, Hanna." She kisses me on the cheek before grabbing her keys and heading out the door.

Once she leaves, I sit back and sigh. I really don't want to be cooped up in the house all day again. As if she could read my mind, Aria calls.

"Hey Han!" her cheery voice bellows through the receiver.

"Hey! What's up?" I ask, fidgeting with my hair.

"I'm super bored because Ezra's at work and for once I don't have any errands to run, so I was wondering if you wanted to come over and chill at Ezra and I's place?" she asks with a hopeful hint in her voice.

"Sure I would love to!" I say excitedly. "I'll be over in an hour."

"Okay!" Aria agrees. "See you then!"

I hang up the phone, and get ready in record time. On my way to Ezra's, I decide that I'm really in the mood for coffee, decaf of course, so I make a pit stop at the brew.

I order two decaffeinated skinny vanilla lattes; one for me, and one for Aria, and walk out the door. As I'm walking to my car, I notice a young man with a head full of curly black hair and a young girl with redish brown hair walking up the street towards me.

"Lucas?" I ask in disbelief. Lucas Gottesman was the school's biggest science nerd. He and I had an amazing friendship that almost turned into something more before A ruined it all for me. After Lucas and I didn't work out, I helped set him up with a girl named Danielle who worked with Lucas on the school yearbook. They dated for a while, but broke up months ago. Because of that, and the pressure of having A on his back, Lucas left town in a fit of anger, fear, and depression. He's been gone for months now, and I don't ever remember him coming back.

"Lucas?" I ask again.

"Hanna?" he asks equally shocked.

"What are you doing here?" I ask him.

"Danielle and I were just going to get some coffee together." He replies motioning to the girl by his side.

"No I mean here, back in Rosewood. I didn't know you were back!" I smile warmly at him. He returns the gesture.

"Yeah I got back a couple of months ago. My mental health has been so much better, so I decided it was time to come home." I notice that Lucas keeps glancing down towards my stomach. I know what he's thinking; just what everyone else is. Rumors spread fast in a small town like Rosewood.

"Have you heard?" I ask him. He looks up kind of surprised.

"Um, yeah, Caleb told me." he says looking guilty. I forgot that Caleb and him were friends.

"Yeah," I say putting my hand on my stomach. "The rumors are true."

"How far along are you?" Danielle asks.

"I'm a little over two months." I say smiling, and just now realizing that the two of them are together.  "I don't mean to pry, but I thought you two were...ya know...?" I ask awkwardly.

"Oh yeah!" Danielle exclaims. "Lucas and I recently got back together!" she says, threading her fingers through his.

"That's great!" I exclaim. "What changed?" Now it's Lucas' turn to speak.

"Danielle asked for a second chance." he says smiling at her. "and so I gave her one. I believed she was truly sorry, and I wanted her back probably more then she wanted me back!" he says gazing into her crystal blue eyes dreamily.

"Awe baby, you know that's not true!" Danielle says, kissing him on the cheek. "I never stopped loving you! I wanted you back the day we broke up, I was just too scared to say so."

My smile fades, and I start thinking about Caleb.

"Danielle and I have been more in love then ever!" Lucas says smiling. "Being apart has helped us realize that we are so much better together. Danielle and I are truly meant for each other."

"That's great!" I say, trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible. Deep down inside, I'm feeling sick with guilt. "I should get going." I say turning to leave. "I'm meeting Aria, but it was nice to see you again Lucas, and you too Danielle! I'm glad things are working out well for the both of you." I try to force a smile.

"Thanks Hanna! Good luck to you and Caleb on your new addition!" Danielle calls back.

Once I get into my car, I can't take my eyes off of Lucas and Danielle. They look so happy together! Holding hands, laughing, and walking with a skip in their step. It's safe to say that I don't think I've ever seen Lucas this happy.

Later that day

"He asked for a second chance?" Aria's eyes are wide with shock.

"Yeah." I say sighing.

"Hanna, how could you not say anything? Isn't this what you've been waiting for?" Aria asks.

"Yeah, but well, I just, it's complicated." I say looking down.

"Hanna, you're the only one making this complicated." Aria says putting her hand on my knee. "Caleb and you were meant to be together, I've told you that from the start! If Caleb didn't care about you, he wouldn't have come back, and if you didn't care about him, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now." Aria says in an obvious tone.

I smile at her. Maybe Aria's right. My mind drifts off to Lucas and Danielle from earlier. It's undeniable that their relationship and love for one another has grown stronger once they got back together. Lucas gave Danielle a second chance, so maybe I should give Caleb one too. Maybe Caleb and I are meant for each other just like Aria and Lucas said...
