*Hanna's POV*

"Ok Ashley, are you ready for this? This is the moment that will change your life. You're about to enter a whole new world of flavor!" Caleb says, slipping Ashley into her high chair. Ashley just smiles and kicks excitedly in response. Today is a big day for us! Ashley is exactly six months old today, which means she can start eating solids! Caleb and I spent hours in the baby food aisle picking out the best assortment of foods for her to try.

"I think that's a yes!" I say giggling.

"Ok, I just have to grab the video camera and then I think we are all set." Caleb says, excusing himself from the room. It's so cute how Caleb insists on capturing every moment of this big milestone in Ashley's life.

"Alright, let me just turn this on," Caleb returns moments later, fidgeting with the video camera. "And we are rolling in three... two... one!" Caleb gives me the thumbs up.

"Hello there! Welcome to another exciting day in the life of Hanna and Caleb Rivers! Today you are going to get the inside scoop of what it's like trying solids for the very first time with our special guest, Ashley!" I step away from the high chair so Caleb can get a close up of her. She just smiles and kicks her legs excitedly.

"So Han, my beautiful wife, what are the foods that Ashley will be trying today?" Caleb asks from behind the camera. I motion to the pile of baby foods stacked on the kitchen table.

"Well first we have some cereal that everyone says is the absolute best thing for babies, and then we have some sweet potatoes over here, and some peas which look absolutely repulsive." I pause to make a face. Caleb chuckles and shakes his head. "And then here we have some plums which just happen to be my favorite."

Caleb gives me a questioning stare. I roll my eyes.

"Yes I tried my daughter's food. What parent wouldn't?"

Caleb solemnly raises his hand from behind the camera.

"Shut up!" I say, playfully slapping his arm. Ashley giggles delightedly.

"Oh you like that, baby girl? Momma will do it again." I say, in my high pitched baby voice. Then I turn to Caleb and slap him over and over repeatedly.

"Hey, ouch, stop that!" Caleb shouts. I listen to his request and turn back to the baby foods.

"Anyways, as I was saying before we have some plums over here and last but not least, some chicken and dumplings." I stick my tongue out. "I don't know why the hell someone would make chicken and dumplings, throw it in the food processor, and sell it on shelves for," I tip the jar over to look at the price. "$4.89, but whatever the reason, I bought it so hopefully she thinks it's good."

Caleb chuckles. "So, which one will she be trying first?" He asks. I smile and pick up the bowl of cereal I had prepared moments earlier.

"Ashley will be trying the cereal first." I grab the little pink spoon out of the bowl and scoop some of the cereal onto it.

"And now for the big moment!" Caleb announces, pausing for dramatic effect. I turn to Ashley and shove the spoon in her mouth.

She makes a surprised face at first, and spits a little out, but then she smiles and smacks happily on the cereal. As soon as she swallows it, she opens her mouth for more, flailing her arms impatiently. Caleb and I laugh.

"Well I think she likes it!" Caleb comments, as I spoon some more into her mouth.

"Alright, on to the next food. Sweet potatoes." Caleb says. I take the camera from him so that he can have a turn feeding Ashley. Caleb pops the lid of the jar and scoops some of the orange goop onto the baby spoon and feeds it to Ashley. Her face puckers up and and makes a face.

"Ooh, I don't think she likes that one." Caleb says, chuckling. I do too at Ashley's cute little response to sweet potatoes.

"Oh wait, what's this!" I say, pointing to Ashley who is now slurping up the sweet potatoes with a big smile on her face.

"She likes them!" Caleb announces, clapping loudly. I follow suit.

"Yay Ashley!" We chant in our squeaky baby voices. She smiles and opens her mouth, eagerly waiting for more.

"Now onto, peas." I say, pretending to hunch over at the mention of that slimy green sludge. I hold my breath as I open the jar, turning away and making a face.

"Oh come on Han, it can't be that bad." Caleb says.

"Oh yeah? Well why don't you see for yourself." I say, holding out the spoon. Caleb takes it without another word.

"Gladly." He says, and takes a heaping spoonful and shoves it into his mouth. Immediately his face turns red, and he races over to the kitchen sink, spitting the peas into it.

"Oh, yeah." Caleb says, rinsing his mouth out profusely. "That's bad."

"Told you so." I say, ripping the spoon from his hand and slashing him on the head with it.

"Ok Ashley, let's see if you have the same reaction as your daddy." I say, spooning the smallest amount into her mouth. She sucks on it for a few seconds, before opening her mouth and spewing green peas all over.

"Oh no!" I say, wiping green spit up off my brand new designer shirt and white jeans. "Ashley, look what you've done!"

Caleb is hunched over in the corner, toppled over with laughter. Ashley giggles and slaps her hands on the high chair, sending peas flying everywhere.

"Ashley Taylor Rivers, you are making a mess! Stop that right now!" I say, not finding any of this funny. Caleb's face is bright red with laughter. I roll my eyes.

"A little help here? I'm covered in these damn peas!" I say, wiping it out of my hair and my face. Ashley too has green peas smeared all over her bare chest. Caleb lifts her out of her high chair, and holds her away from him so he doesn't get peas all over him.

"Ok, time for a bath you two." He says, leading us both to the bathroom and starting the water. Once the tub is filled with warm water, I undress and get in, the warm water soothing my tense body. Caleb strips Ashley's now green diaper off of her and places her on my chest. I splash some water over her pea smeared tummy and rub it gently. She remains calm and happy, smiling her gummy smile.

"There's my happy girl." Caleb says, tickling Ashley's chubby tummy. She grins even bigger.

"Look how cute she looks." Caleb says. I lean over and look at my smiling blue eyed baby girl.

"Awe." I gush. I can't help letting a smile escape.

"There's my happy girl!" Caleb says again, pinching my cheek and talking in the same voice he used with Ashley. I roll my eyes annoyedly.

"Haha, you're so funny." I reply, but he's right. I am a happy girl. The happiest of all.
