*Hanna's POV*
"I do" Two little words that you use in nearly every sentence, but when you say them together, can transform your life forever. I've heard them all the time. I've been to weddings, seen them in movies, even read them in books, although I'm not much of a reader, but never in a million years could I understand just how precious those two little words are, until today.
Today is the day I got to marry the love of my life, Caleb Rivers. I am now Hanna Rivers, Hanna Rivers! I've been saying it for hours and I still can't believe it! So many people have come up to us congratulating us on our daughter and marriage. Even some of my mom's friends who I haven't seen in years! My mom's boyfriend Ted, who I basically consider my father, decided to show up too! It was so sweet, he cried tears of joy when he got to meet Ashley for the very first time. But the greatest part of all, is that my friends got to walk down the aisle with me. It's definently safe to say that today is the best day of my life.
"Oh my God, you guys are married! You're really married!" Emily squeals, as the four of us stand by the chocolate fondue shoving our faces full of fruit and marshmallows.
"I know!" I can't believe it!" I say beaming from ear to ear. I swear tomorrow morning my face is going to hurt like hell because I've been smiling so much, but I couldn't care less.
"Han, this is the most spectacular reception I've been to!" Mona says.
"Only the best for my maid of honor." I say, giving her a playful nudge.
"Oh stop putting the spotlight on me! This is your special day!" She says, giving me a quick hug and skipping away.
"Wow, I never thought I'd hear Mona say that." Aria says, balancing Lucy on her hip.
"I was just thinking that." Emily and Spencer say laughing.
"Attention everyone!" Byron says, speaking into a microphone.
"If everyone could please take a seat at your designated table, the newly wedded couples will begin the dinner ceremony." He says.
"Oh shoot that's us!" Spencer says, grabbing my hand and leading us to the head table. Aria went to hand Lucy over to Ella, who is also looking after Ian. And Spencer was already seated next to Toby.
"Now before we get started, I just want to thank you all for coming and being a apart of my daughter and her friends special day." Byron begins. Caleb gives my hand a gentle squeeze as Byron continues his speech.
"Without further ado, let's get this pary started!" He announces, taking a seat at a nearby table. The audience errupts in applause.
The ceremony goes on as regular ceremonies do. Slide shows, speeches, and many, many toasts. The cake tasting was a smash, literally! Cake got smashed and smeared all over my white dress!
"Saving some for later?" Ted asked me, because I had so much cake and frosting on my dress. Fortunately, the cake was vanilla, along with the frosting. I feel bad for the couples who choose to serve chocolate frosting. It really comes down to which thing you value more, the cake or the dress.
Personally I would have chosen the cake, but Caleb refused to. Shame on him for ruining the fun! Before I know it, it's time for my favorite part of receptions, aside from the food of course, it's time to dance!
After careful consideration, the girls and I decided to each pick a "first dance" song and make a mashup of all three songs to dance to for the first dance. Aria and Ezra chose Love of a Lifetime, Spencer and Toby chose In My Veins, and Caleb and I chose Forever Mine. We choreographed a beautiful three some dance with the help of Emily, and we are all beyond ready to perform.
Caleb and I fail to take eyes off each other as Peter welcomes us to the dance floor. My heart skips a beat as I rest my head on Caleb's shoulder, my happy place, in his arms.
As the music plays, I glide along the dance floor, letting the lyrics seep into my soul. I perform every intricate step with as much emotion as I feel. Never in my entire life have I been this happy. I glance towards my mom in the audience, sitting besides Ted, who has his arm draped around her. Just the fact that they're here puts this day at the top of my list. Then I look at my happy, healthy, smiley baby girl who is just over four months.
"We created that." Caleb says, as if he could read my mind.
"I was just thinking that." I agree. Caleb smiles at me.
"I love you, Hanna. I love you more than Spencer loves coffee or Ashley loves playing with her toes." Caleb says, his eyes sparkle.
"That is a lot." I say, unable to hide my enormous smile. Caleb leans in and kisses me. I kiss back, closing my eyes to force myself to stay in the moment. I never want this day to end.
"Can you believe that in less than twenty four hours, the two of us will be laying in Hawaii, without even clothes separating us?" Caleb asks, shaking me out of my trance. I give a sly smile, longing for that ever so badly.
"Only twenty four hours?" I ask. Caleb smiles.
"Only twenty four hours." I rest my head on Caleb's chest. He kisses and strokes my hair. All too soon, the music dies down and the two of us have to exit the dance floor. I glance at my friends, their rosey cheeks and secret smiles hinting that Ezra and Toby said something similar to Caleb's sexy remark. The audience errupts in applause as we make our way back to our seats, a few of them wiping tears from their eyes.
"Next up, we have the daddy daughter dance" Veronica announces. My heart sinks. Not only do I have to sit out on the side lines and watch, while the rest of my friends dance with their dads, but my dad didn't even care enough to show up to his own daughter's wedding. Caleb puts his arm around me, noticing the tears in my eyes.
"Hey, it's ok." He says, pulling me close to his chest. I let a few tears fall, not wanting to ruin my perfect makeup.
"Now please welcome to the floor, Spencer and Peter Hastings, Aria and Byron Montgomery, and Hanna and Tom Marin!"
I sit up and look around, confusedly. It must be a mistake. My mom stands up hesitantly, pain and sadness hiding behind her cold, blue eyes.
"Veronica, I think there must be a mistake-"
"There's no mistake." A deep voice says from behind. My eyes fill with tears as I turn around to find my dad, standing behind me with tears in his eyes and his arms open wide. I break free from Caleb and run into my dad's arms, embracing him tightly.
"You came." I say, my voice cracking.
"Of course I did! You don't think I would miss my daughter's wedding day, do you?" He asks, squeezing me tighter.
"But I thought you were disappointed in me." I say, hanging my head in shame. My dad tilts my chin up so I'm looking him in thr eye.
"Hanna, I may not agree with the choices you make, but I could never be disappointed in you. I love you."
Many oohs and awes, escape from various people in the audience. I chuckle softly.
"Now," My dad says, holding out his arm for me to take. "Let's try this again."
I take my dad's hand as he leads me onto the dance floor, just as if he was giving me away for the first time. Tears of joy spring to my eyes as I follow him to the center of the floor, my friends and their dads taking position beside me. Suddenly, my smile turns to a frown.
"Dad, I don't know what to do. I wasn't at any of the rehearsals." I whisper. My dad smiles.
"Just follow my lead." He whispers back. The music starts, and my dad and I glide across the dance floor as if I've rehearsed it a thousand times. I look into my dad's eyes. They sparkle with tears, just like my own. I glance towards my mom in the audience, tears fall down her cheeks too. Then I look at my handsome husband who is holding our beautiful daughter. I don't know where I would be without any of the people surrounding me, amd honestly, I never want to find out.
