Louis POV

"Lindsey! Come out from wherever you are!" I yelled through my cupped hands.

I sighed and walked away from the stairs and over to the windows. I pulled back the curtains to again reveal nothing except empty air and bright sunlight.

I sighed an let the curtain fall back into place. it's around noon now. Jessicas mom left to go back to work. they called her in and she said they wouldn't take any excuses, especially not enough sleep.

I guess even school can be less harsh than that.

Well anyway after she left Lindsey went and hid and now I'm searching around the house trying to find her and just begging for her to come out with no success.

My throat was scratchy from yelling and running around the house for two hours straight. and yes that's right, I'm a very dedicated babysitter.

I decided to go into the kitchen and get a glass of water and try to make sure I don't pass out of dehydration.

It wouldn't be good for me or Lindsey.

I searched the cabinets until I finally found the one filled with cups. I slipped one out and quickly filled it with water.

I quickly emptied the glass and went to refill it when I heard a bang coming from one of the cabinets.

I set the glass down and walked over to the cabinet that had been banging. I slowly started to open it and it creaked as if in protest.

I saw nothing. the cabinets was empty that I could see. I raised an eyebrow at it and cocked my head.

Strange.

I went to close the cabinet when something jumped out and I fell back onto the floor, my head just missing the cabinets behind me.

My eyes widened in shock as I looked at what it was. Lindsey?

I let my head fall back onto the floor and I let out a sigh of relief as I let my muscles relax and the tension vanish.

She giggled as she saw my reaction and put her hand over her mouth to try and stifle it.

I let out a chuckle which made my chest shake slightly and caused her to laugh even more.

"Again again!" she yelled a she threw her hands up and into the air.

I shook my head. "no thanks. I think I'm done with hide and seek for today."

"Aww. . ." She said as her face fell and she slowly brought her hands back down and to her sides.

I laughed and moved her off me before propping myself up on my elbows and than sitting up, I leaned against the counter behind me and took a deep breath.

"Why did you hide on me?" I asked. "you almost gave me a heart attack."

She giggled again and once more put her hand over her mouth to stifle it. "Because. . ." She said with a shrug. "I wanted to play a game," she said.

"But you could've killed me." I said as I cocked my head to the side.

Her face fell again and her eyes filled with tears. "But. . . But. . . I didn't mean to do it."

She sniffles and wiped her eyes.

"Lindsey I was kidding." I said. She looked up at me with tear filled eyes. "Come here." I put my hands out.

She crawled over and sat on my lap. She buried her head into my shoulder and sniffled. I wrapped my arms around her and rubbed her back.

After awhile she finally calmed down and wriggled from my grip and instead sat down next to me.

For once she had actually kind of acted like her age. it was strange. the whole time of know her she had acted like my sisters.

"Can we make cookies?" she asked as she looked up at me with pleading eyes and a pouting lip.

"Now how come all the sudden you want cookies?" I asked.

"Because I'm hungry." she groaned as she clutched her stomach.

I laughed. "Lunch than we can see about the cookies."

She smiled and clapped her hands together. "yeah yeah yeah." She squealed as she jumped up.

I shook my head. "I said maybe."

"To bad." she said sticking her tongue out.

"Oh that's it." she squealed and ran away form me. I pushed myself up off the floor and started after her. "Get back here." I yelled
