In the days that passed, I thought about Gramps more and more.

I felt terrible leaving him like I did. It wasn't fair. He lost his daughter in a car crash, was practically forced to take care of her only daughter, and now I've left him too. I'm such a terrible person.

I also became increasingly worried about the mysterious man that came to our during the night.

I showered and got ready for bed. I was sleeping late tonight because I'd been up for most of it talking to all the new people in the house. Aiden crawled in next to me and I soaked up his warmth.

"Aiden," I whispered.

"Mmm?"

"I have to tell you something."

I sat up and watched his back rise and fall.

"Before we moved here, something happened with Gramps."

Aiden sat up slowly, his brows pulled together in a scowl. I knew he didn't like Gramps, but I had to talk about this. "What happened?"

"Someone came to our house to talk to him. They woke me up and I could hear them whispering in the hallway.

The man said that Gramps had to tell me something, and that he had to do it soon otherwise he'd miss his chance. I... I think they were talking about you."

His scowl turned even deeper and he grabbed each of my arms. "What did he say?"

"He said you're too young and can't have found your mate already. He's hundreds of years old!! And he said he'll have no chance if you find me first. What is that supposed to mean?"

"Shit. Did he say anything else?"

"He threatened to kill Gramps," I whispered. I'm afraid I'll be caught in the crossfire if they were referring to me.

"What did he look like? Do you remember?"

"No I..." I gulped. "It was too dark. I couldn't make out his face."

"It's okay. Shit. Alright. This is bad, okay. Uhh.. stay here and I'll be right back."

"Aiden! Where are you going?"

"Don't worry, I'll be back," he said as he slipped out of bed and hastily walked to the door. "Try and get some sleep, luna. I love you. I'll be back before you even know it."

I obviously couldn't sleep now. What was I supposed to do. I wasn't stupid, I knew something was up with that man.

I had a gut feeling he didn't have the best intentions, and the fact that he said if Aiden - I'm assuming that's who he's talking about, because he's the only other wolf I know - finds me, he'll have no chance. I squirmed at the possibilities that could happen if he does.

I tossed and turned for hours. Aiden still hadn't come back to bed, but I didn't want to go out and venture into the hallways. I'd probably run into another pair of glowing eyes, ones more deadly than Ty's. Even though I'd grown to trust Aiden's family, I still didn't know everyone in the house.

When the bedroom door creaked, I inhaled a sharp breath. Was it the man? Has he come to get me? Will I die? What am I going to do? I can't run or hide! I'm going to di-

"Sang?" I heard a familiar whisper. I visibly relaxed and slumped down into the bed again.

"Yeah I'm awake."

He slipped back into bed and gave me a kiss on the forehead. "You didn't sleep?"

"No, and so much for being back before I knew it," I smirked. But then I realised he couldn't see me.

He chuckled sheepishly. "We were trying to find out who the man was."

"You can do that? How? I basically gave you zero leads."

"We were using your Gramps as the lead. Figuring out who he was close to."

"Wh- wait, we?"

"Tyler, my dad and a few others."

"Is it really that bad?"

"Can you say that the man you heard had good intentions?"

I hesitated. "No, but..."

"We protect our own Sang. You're one of us now. And you're my mate. So of course that's my job."

"To find out who's hunting me?" I chuckled.

"To stop anyone who tries to take mine away from me." I leaned up and kissed him square on the lips. In this moment, I knew I loved him more than I ever had before.

"My wolf man," I whispered, so softly I thought he didn't hear me.

"My luna," he whispered.

I settled back into bed, our bodies glued together like magnets. Slowly my eyes shut, and I could finally get some sleep.
