It was late in the evening, you were spending some quality time with your boyfriend, Zyglavis. It had been quite some time since you had been able to relax together as both of you had been busy with work. You felt so lonely not being able to see him for so long, but as soon as you saw his face all the loneliness you were feeling washed away; replaced with a warm happiness from seeing the one you love.
However, things weren't as happy as they seemed.
“___? Are you feeling okay?” Zyglavis looked at you with concern, his brows furrowed.
“Yes,” You quickly shrunk back and forced a smile, “I'm fine.”
That was a lie. You had pushed yourself to your limit at work getting ready for an upcoming event and were so utterly exhausted that you felt sick.
But you didn’t want to worry Zyglavis nor let it get in the way of your time together. Besides, you couldn’t rest yet, there was still much work to be done if you wanted to be ready the event.
Zyglavis didn’t look the least bit convinced, his eyes still glued to you with a questioning gaze. “Then why do you look so pale?” He asked as he placed a hand on your forehead, “You are burning up.” Zyglavis eyes widened in shock, looking at you with worry.
“I must feel a little tired. There's nothing to worry about.” You assure him but then you are suddenly hit by a dizzy spell as you sit with him at the table.
“___?! You look far from fine.” Zyglavis sounded annoyed. He didn’t understand why you were trying to hide how you really felt, “You should have stayed home and rested. We could have seen each other when you felt better.”
“No!” You shook your head, “I wanted to see you. I'll rest later. I'll be okay.” You pouted a little, feeling hurt that he may not have felt the same way. Maybe you were the only one who missed him.
“I understand how you feel but your health should come first.”
“Do you really understand?!” You barked, letting your emotional state get the better of you. Your throbbing head did nothing to help. You stood from your seat, “Ah,” and immediately wobbled on your feet.
Quick to act, Zyglavis caught you before you could fall. It was then he noticed the deep cut on your hand; the hand you had worked so hard to hide all night so he wouldn't see.
Zyglavis helped you sit on his bed before taking your hand and asking, “What happened?”
“Oh.” You cringed when you realized what he was asking, “I just had an accident in the kitchen, that's all.” As you spoke you quickly fixed the bandage on your hand to cover up the wound.
“You talk as if it's nothing. Why are you trying so hard to cover up how you feel? Honestly, you should worry about yourself more.” Zyglavis sighs, it pained him to see you looking so sick and even worse with a wound to your hand.
“But…” You were almost in tears, all you wanted was to spend some time with him and not let anything else get in the way. It was difficult dating a god. You never knew when you could see each other and that's why you wanted to treasure every moment you could.
“It doesn't matter. I just want to be with you right now.” Your eyes shake as you look at him with watery eyes.
But Zyglavis wasn't pleased by that response. If you put yourself in such a state just to see him it definitely didn't make him feel good; Zyglavis didn’t want you to put your health at risk for him.
“I know,” Zyglavis smiles slightly, taking your hand, “I just want you to put your health first. I'd hate for anything to happen to you.”
You knew that. You knew all too well how childish you were being and yet you still didn’t care.
