Lately, Scorpio had been really jumpy around you and always on guard. What was wrong with him? You wish you knew. Was it...did he read your mind?! You only just realized it yourself, you don't even know how it happened, after all, he is brash and cranky, so how did you fall in love with a man like him? Even if you didn't understand why you knew one thing was definite, that was you truly did love him. His smile that he rarely showed, his kindness hidden deep...deeeep under his rough demeanor, his awkwardness, there was just so much you could go on and on why you adored him.
But even if you knew how you felt you wondered how did he feel? If he really was trying to avoid you now because he caught onto your feelings and thought it was disgusting a mere human loved him that would crush you. You knew it was forbidden to love a god but you can't just switch off your feelings on command; your heart wasn't something you had control over and to deny those feelings that grew stronger by the day felt almost impossible and yet was there even any chance for a relationship with the grumpy god? Thinking about it made you depressed.
Sitting on the couch in the gods living room you were browsing through your phone when you suddenly got a message, “Oh.” You quickly opened up your message and your eyes widened, “Josh? I haven't heard from him in a while.” Your old school friend had messaged you, he was in the area for a short time and wanted to hang out with you. You felt a little giddy getting a message from him as he was your school crush, though you no longer liked him in the same way as your heart now belonged to someone else…
Even so, you couldn’t deny you felt excited about seeing him again after so long. You wondered how much he changed, and now you were all grown you wondered what he'd think of you. With a smile on your face you eagerly sent a reply, unaware that someone was watching you from a corner of the room.
Just as you sent the message a voice called out to you. “You sure looked sickeningly happy. What are you doing? Looking at food?” It was Scorpio. He was looking at you with frightening intensity. He looked to be curious what you were doing but hid that behind his teasing as he didn't want you to know he was interested.
Surprised, you looked up at Scorpio and couldn’t help but feel even happier than when you received the message, “I just got a text from my school crush and now we are going to meet up.” You smiled but quickly realized what you said and look horrified, “Oh. T-That…”
“Hmph. And now you are going to go confess to him. Gross. You humans make me sick.” There was a slight edge in his voice that scared you. Scorpio looked even angrier than usual, it was like he was ticked off that you were so happy...or was he jealous? Hah. As if. There was no way he could be jealous you thought as that meant he had to have feelings for you.
“N-No. You have it wrong.” You stood up, shaking your head as you tried to correct him but Scorpio didn't seem to be listening. “Whatever. When are you going?” He asked, a scowl on his face as he glared at you.
You shivered under his stare and shied away, “Soon… I'll be leaving shortly.” You replied, looking at the floor as you were unable to look at him.
What… you didn’t know if you just imagined it but Scorpio looked...troubled before he pursed his lips and practically stormed away leaving you speechless. You thought Scorpio must really hate you and you had gotten so close too… Why? Why did he change so suddenly… You wanted to cry but you couldn’t, you were too hurt to even cry.
Taking in a deep breath you tried to cheer yourself up and got ready to leave the gods house, though you couldn’t shake the gloominess that had settled over you. You didn’t even notice how you trudged along or how depressed you looked; your mind was elsewhere as you made your way to the door.
