Chapter 11

Zelena has been organizing for a few weeks now and today was the day; Emma's eighteenth birthday.

The only downside in Emma's mind was that it was a school day, but it was a Friday, so it didn't really bother anyone.

Zelena and Ruby had organized with everyone that we would have a party tomorrow to celebrate but tonight the blonde be staying at Zelena's with her and Ruby. Those two have been whispering and mumbling among themselves for a week now and Emma hate to think what they have planned.

Ruby recently found out about her friend's feelings for Regina because Emma can't seem to keep anything from her, the lanky brunette always manages to weasel her way in and get the girl to cave in and tell her things.

From then Ruby promised Emma to stop referring to Regina as 'The Evil Queen' and slowly began to see the woman that Emma was seeing, the sweet, snarky brunette that's only trying her best.

The trio walked into the Mayoral Mansion and were greeted by Cora who looked like she was about to leave.

The older brunette looked at the group and smiled, "hello, girls" she greeted them kindly.

They all smiled, "hello, Mayor Mills," Ruby responded with the formality she would use when she would help Granny at the diner.

Cora chuckled lightly, "it's Cora, Ruby," she told the girl.

Ruby nodded as a slight flush spread across her face.

Cora smiled, "I assume you girls have a good weekend planned?" Cora questioned.

They all nodded, "I expect you'll all be on your best behavior while I'm away" she commented raising an eyebrow and staring at Zelena.

The redhead rolled her eyes, "of course, mother" she muttered.

Emma heard a soft chuckle from the doorway to the living room.

The blonde turned to see Regina who was leaning against the doorframe, "don't worry, I'll keep an eye on them" the raven-haired woman added in.

Her cocoa eyes met the blonde's sea-green ones from across the room and she shot the young girl a wink, Emma couldn't help but laugh as she dropped her gaze.

Emma and Regina's relationship had gone back to the way it was before they kissed in her classroom that day over a month ago, in all honesty, the blonde missed how they used to bicker and playfully flirt with each other.

Cora nodded, "alright, I'll see you all on Sunday. And, Happy Birthday, Emma" she told the blonde.

Emma smiled, "thank you, Cora," she responded before watching the Mayor walk out the door.

Regina gently shoved off the doorframe and stood up straight, "don't worry, I won't pay much attention to you. Come and get me when you want food and I'll order pizza" she told the group.

They nodded "thanks Reg," Zelena said with a smile.

Regina made eye contact with the blonde once again and smiled before making her way back into the living room.

Once left alone in the hall the trio headed upstairs to Zelena's room.

By 7.30 pm, everyone was starving, so they headed downstairs to find Regina.

The group walked into the living room and found her sitting in the corner of the sofa with her legs tucked gently underneath her, with a book in her hand and a pair of glasses perched gently on the bridge of her nose.
