Emma walked to her next class after English has ended. She hadn't found the lesson all that bad, however, she could tell that the majority of people in her class were not fond of the brunette's teaching style. The blonde, on the other hand, thought she was brilliant.
The new girl walked in and saw Ruby, Belle and Tink sitting at a long and narrow desk, two spare seats available. The girl quickly took a seat next to them.
Ruby shot her a playful smirk, "how was the Evil Queen?" Ruby played.
Emma let out a small groan, "you didn't tell me she was gorgeous" she complained causing the group to laugh.
It was no secret to Ruby that Emma had a preference for women and sending her into that room with no warning of how completely breath-taking Miss Mills is, was unfair in the blonde's mind.
Ruby giggles, "I wanted to see your reaction, sorry, Em" Ruby mumbled apologetically.
The blonde sighed, "I nearly had a heart attack when I walked into the room" she complained.
Emma sighed and quickly changed the subject, "are Neal, August or Will in this class with us?" she asked curiously.
Tink shrugged, "Neal is, I think. But he got hit in the head during gym and was sent home just in case. We'll be getting a cover for this class" she quickly explained.
Emma stared at the girls in confusion for a moment until Belle eventually caught on, "Mr Gold is Neal's father" she explained filling in the blanks for the troubled new girl.
The sound of the door closing caused the class to jump slightly in surprised.
The blonde looked up and watched as Miss Mills made her way into the room, the whole class practically groaned.
Miss Mills took a seat, "Mr Gold has gone home early for personal reasons, I don't care what you do as long as your quiet. I don't want to hear any talking above a whisper" she snapped before turning to her laptop.
Tink and Ruby looked at each other in shock, "that's never happened before" Tink muttered, Ruby nodded in agreement.
Emma quickly pulled out her book and started to take notes, "may as well do it now to give me some free time later" she thought to herself, removing herself from the quiet conversation going on between the other girls at the table.
After about 45 minutes, the girl had a page worth of notes on the first chapter, back and front.
Emma looked briefly up to see Miss Mills watching her almost intently. Their eyes locked for a brief moment, but the blonde quickly looked away.
The young girl shifted slightly in her seat as the quiet clicking of heels got closer to her. The blonde hesitantly looked up to see the brunette staring down at her from the opposite side of the table, "you've got a lot of notes for just one-chapter, Miss Swan" she commented in a low voice.
The girl looked up to meet her gaze, "well, I do know the book quite well" she responded.
The brunette raised an eyebrow, "I have no doubt that you do but..." she started but was soon cut off by the blonde in front of her, "would you like to check it Miss Mills?" Emma asked slyly.
Miss Mills' eyes narrowed on her new student, searching her face for any sign of hesitance, but all she saw was complete confidence staring back at her. The older woman picked up the page and quickly returned to her desk, accepting the young girl's challenge.
