Chapter 34

After getting out of her gown, Emma followed the crowd from the gym to the parking lot to meet up with her family.  She was dressed in a nice pair of black skinny jeans with a white shirt that was neatly tucked in. The sleeves were rolled up to her elbow and the cuffs of her jeans were rolled up with her converse planted firmly on her feet.

As she stepped into the open she spotted Zelena standing with Ruby and the rest of their friend group.

The blonde walked up to them with a smile plastered across her face, "freedom at last!" She called out grasping their attention.

They all hollered back in response, "you know what that means Swan." Ruby joked nudging her playfully.

Zelena cackled as she threw her arm over the blonde's shoulders, "let's go get your girl."

The group erupted into a loud chorus of:

"Since when does Emma have a girl?"
"When did this happen?"
"Ruby, why did you not tell us?"

Emma and Zelena giggled, "you'll see." The redhead quipped before dragging the blonde away to find their family who were more than likely waiting together.

Zelena spotted David first and started weaving through the crowd dragging Emma along behind her.

"Excited girls?" David joked.

They laughed, "we're finally done, it's a cause for celebration!" Zelena yelled.

Cora rolled her eyes at her daughter as the rest of them laughed.

"Where's Reggie?" Zelena asked realising that her older sister was nowhere to be seen.

"Just like you to forget that I'm part of the teaching staff and can't leave until everyone else is out." A voice spoke from behind them.

Emma turned to see Regina standing with her hands on her hips laughing at her sister.

The brunette stepped forward and wrapped her arms around the redhead, "I'm so proud of you, Z." She said as Zelena returned her hug.

"Thanks, Reg."

The sisters pulled apart and her eyes met Emma's.

The older woman's smile only got bigger, "I'm proud of you too, Em." She said stepping forward and bringing the blonde into her arms.

Emma melted into the touch, wrapping her arms firmly around the brunette's waist.

"And what's even better," Regina husked as she pulled away slightly, "is that now I can do this." She whispered before pressing her lips firmly against Emma's. The blonde couldn't help but smile into the kiss.

This is what they'd been waiting for. After four months of completely avoiding each other in school and keeping everything behind closed doors - this was worth it.

Kathryn had stopped after that day. Dr Hopper had spoken to her, and despite not knowing what he had told her, the blonde had learned to mind her own business and had left their entire group alone for the remainder of the year.

It was incredible.

The couple pulled apart and Emma's face immediately flushed a deep shade of red.

"Everyone's staring." She mumbled looking around her.

Regina smirked as she took the younger woman's hand in her own, "let them stare." She stated before placing a sweet kiss on the blonde's knuckles.

Come August, there was a party in the Mills family mansion. It was an end of summer, beginning of college celebration.
