The Savior and the Prince// Yugyeom & Jimin

Sixteen

Today I turned 16 years old! 

"Guys guys! I can finally go above!" I shouted.

"This day came too soon," Jae Bum said.

"It should've never came at all," said Jinyoung. 

"She's too troublesome," added Jackson.

"As if you're not troublesome!" I said looking at Jackson.

"She's still not ready," said Mark.

"She should just not go at all," said Bam Bam with a smirk.

"Maybe she should wait for me," said Yugyeom.

"Guys! I'm old enough and by the law of the merpeople, I can go if I want," I said.

"IF you want," said Youngjae.

"Speaking of which, aren't you able to go already?" I asked Youngjae.

"Yes a while ago but I'd rather not," he said.

"Go with me! It'll be fun!" I said.

"No it won't," he said.

"Aww come on sunshine," I said to him.

"Maybe you should go with her. Keep an eye on her for us," said Jae Bum.

"Why can't one of you guys go?" Youngjae asked.

"We already went once. We're not supposed to go above again unless necessary," said Jinyoung. 

Truth is, I had been up before. When I was twelve I was swimming close to the surface. I heard a beautiful song playing in the air and snuck up. That was where I saw a little boy around my age, standing on the brown sand. He looked like a little prince from the stories mother would tell me. I wanted to see him again and hear his song once more.

"I can take her," said Yugyeom.

"You are only allowed to explore the surface once you hit the big sixteen," added Mark.

They all looked at Youngjae again.

"Fine, I'll go," he whimpered.

I smiled brightly and gave him a wink. We set out to go. The rest of the boys came along until we got closer to the surface.

"This is where we send you on your way," said Jae Bum.

"Have fun!" Jackson said, waving frantically.

"Be safe okay?" said Yugyeom.

"I promise," I said. 

I gave Yugyeom a quick hug and swam above with Youngjae. Our heads plopped out of the water and we looked around to see if the coast was clear.

"Okay. We saw it, now let's go back," said Youngjae.

"No we just got here! I'm turning," I said.

"Into a human?!" he asked surprised.

"Well I can't turn into anything else can I?" I said teasingly.

"We never agreed to this," he said, worried.

"The law never said we couldn't turn to humans. We might as well since we're already here," I said.

"The power to do so shouldn't be abused," Youngjae added.

"I'm not abusing it. I'm only going to use it once in my life," I said.

"Mmmm," he panicked.

"It's okay if you want to go back. I won't tell the boys. Meet up with you later?" I said.

"I promise, I'll only stay for a while and not long. Okay?" I added.

"Fine. You better come back soon," he said.

I waved goodbye to him as he dived back under. I used the magic chant and turned human. My mother gave me the special chant that made sure to give me human clothes. She said being nude was not something humans do outdoors. I swam up to the beach and stepped on the golden sand. It was warm and somehow hot as well. I twirled around with my eyes closed, enjoying the feeling of feet.

"Ouch."

I bumped into someone with my hand.

"I'm so sorry!"

I opened my eyes and looked at the victim. He was a lot taller now but I knew this was the boy I had seem four years ago.

"Oh it's you!" I said, pointing to him.

"Didn't your mother tell you it was rude to point at people? And how do you know me?" he asked.

"Ah I mean you looked like someone I knew. Sorry," I said, scratching my head.

"The only person I look like is my little brother," he said.

Then was it the little brother I met? I was confused.

"Don't hurt yourself," he said chuckling.

"I'm not!"

"Say want to catch a fish for me?" he asked.

"Why would I want to do that?" I asked.

"To prove yourself," he said.

"Prove myself?"

He laughed.

"You're silly. I like that," he stated.

"Silly?"

He laughed again.

"Do you always repeat other people?" he asked.

"Other people? You're the only person I've met," I said.

I quickly realized what I had said and covered my mouth with both hands.

"I'm sure you've met other people before. You're odd," he said, tilting his head at me.

"Prince Jimin! Where did you go?" shouted a voice from afar.

"Hide!" he said as he grabbed me.

We hid behind a large rock nearby. 

"Prince Jimin!" 

The voice was louder this time.

"Hey. Will you be my friend?" he asked, whispering to my ears.

My face turned red and the ear he whispered into was hot. I nodded yes.

"I probably won't be able to return here for a while. Let's make a promise. Meet me here again in two years. I'm sure you will meet a few more people by then," he teased.

He looked into my eyes and smiled.

"Your eyes sparkle. It's like they're stars," he said.

"Prince Jimin! Come here this instant!"

"Two years is long but please do come. Promise?" he asked, sticking out his pinky.

I wasn't sure what to do but I slowly stuck out my pinky as well. He wrapped his pinky around mine and patted my head with the other hand.

"It was nice meeting you silly," he said as he jumped out and ran towards the voice.

I stayed there and held my hot face.

"Jimin."

His name was Jimin. I smiled and finally made my way into the ocean. Back home we both went.
