It was late now and we needed to rest for another long day. We found an underwater cave to stay.

"Y/N-ah, why don't you sleep closer to me? I promise I don't bite," Yugyeom says as he pats the space next to him.

I swam over and laid next to him. His head was rested on his arm adorably as he looked into my eyes.

"I want to do this for the rest of my life," he whispers.

"Me too," I smiled.

"I want to see you every day, every night, and every moment when I turn around," he added softly.

I touched his warm cheeks and said, "me too."

"Say Y/N, what do you think about us in the future?" he asked.

"I see you and me swimming throughout the ocean together. I see a little mini Gyeom swimming everywhere, leaving me restless. And I see a little me sitting on your lap. I see a future with only happiness in it," I said.

He smiled shyly and reached his arms out to me, motioning for me to lay my head on his arm.

"How about you?" I asked.

"Mmmm I want more than just one mini you," he teased.

"Y-yah! That's up for debate later!"

He laughed and patted my head.

"Okay okay shh shh," he jokingly said.

I hit him in the chest and glared at him. He smiled brightly and continued to pat my head.

"I want you to be my queen. After the quest is done I will ask for your hand properly," he said.

I couldn't possibly tell him about my engagement even though I wanted to. My hope is to finish the quest and ask my father to break the engagement. No one wants to marry someone they don't love. I bet even Dahyun wouldn't want to marry an unknown prince.

"Let's go to sleep now. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow," Yugyeom said softly as he yawned.

I laid in his embrace and covered in his warmth for the night. Though my eyes closed, my mind wandered. I kept having visions and hearing a voice call out to me. I twisted and turned and woke up mid-air. My body had unconsciously floated.

"Find me. You must find me now. Before it moves to a new place."

The voice echoed in my head.

"Follow me. I'll take you there."

I did as I was told and swam out, following the directions of the voice.

"Down there."

I was going towards the bottom of the cave we were in before. It was chilly and dark. The deeper I went down, the more fear crept in. Suddenly, long arms with suckers grabbed onto my arm, pulling me forward towards a huge rock.

"S-stop it!" I shouted.

It just kept pulling me, no matter how hard I swam away. It brought me up to it's cave.

"Now tell me why a mermaid is down here alone? Is she not scared of the dark?" the voice asked.

"The crown. The crown," said the voice.

"Looking for a missing crown," I replied.

"Ah, and why would you look for it here my dear?"

The octopus lady did not reveal herself but she kept her arm on me.

"I just thought-"

"No you did not. You did not think at all child," she said sleazily.

"I have nothing more to say. Let me go," I said.

"Tsk tsk tsk. I will do what I want and not what a mere mermaid says. You're not the princess so you can't tell me what to do!"

She gripped harder on my arm.

"I have your missing crown. I've had it for a very long time. It's right here," she said as she held out a golden crystalized crown.

"Please, let me have it," I asked.

"Good thing the girl doesn't know. There's no light to fend me off down here," the octopus lady thought to herself.

That's right! I can read thoughts of sea creatures!

"Light. Light," hissed the voice.

I looked at the golden crown in her arm. The stars in my eyes illuminated as it reflected off the crystals of the crown. My eyes lit up the darkness.

"Ouch! Stop it you ugly girl!" she screamed as she covered her eyes with her arms.

This was my chance! She loosened her grip on my hand as I reached out to grab the crown. As I held it in my arms, she strengthened her grip around me and twirled an arm around my neck. I gasped and tried to fight her off.

"Yu-gy-eom-" I squeezed out.

Then a blue light flashed before my eyes. It caught me off guard so I gripped onto the crown harder.

"Am I dying?" I thought.

The arms left my body slowly after the light left.

"Y/N!"

He came to my side and held me up.

"Are you okay? Look at me. Look at me Y/N!"

"Yu-gye-om."

"Silly girl! You should have woken me up!" he said in a scared tone as he carried me bridal style.

"I'm ... Okay."

I tried to smile as he swam up and away from the cold. We settled back inside the cave.

"Yugyeom-ah. What was that blue light?"

"It's my powers. It's...blue fire," he said.

"Such a thing exists?"

"I've always had it. It was the gift my father gave me. Much like the stars in your eyes."

"Is that how you always saved me from sharks before?" I asked.

"Yes. I couldn't reveal myself before but it's different now."

"Thank you. For everything. You...you're my savior. I owe you everything," I said softly.

I grabbed onto his arm and laid my head on his shoulders. I wept silently, letting go of all the fear that I had tried to hold back a while ago. He held me and rubbed my back.

"I love you so much Yugyeom. I really do," I said as I cried.

"I love you too. So much I would do anything," he said.

I lied when I said merfolks don't shed tears. We do. The missing gold crown of the first Queen ever was in my hands. Now all that is left is finding the blind turtle who can end all of this for me.
