The Savior and the Prince// Yugyeom & Jimin

Saying Goodbye

I was in deep thought and reflecting on everything that had happened. It was a hard decision because no matter what I chose, happiness was something I had to fight for. If I choose Jimin I could lose my life because I can't live out of the water for long. If I choose Yugyeom, I would have to go back and deal with everything. It would mean becoming princess, leaving my mother, and taking away the throne from Dahyun. But it wasn't even about that right now. Right now it's about my feelings and who I truly love.

Where does your heart lie? With who? The man I grew up with who was always there for me, or the man who's music I desired so much to hear that I disobeyed the law ?

"Jimin-ah, I do believe we were fated to meet, though we could've completed each other, it just wasn't meant to be. In the end, I am a mermaid and you are human. I can't live in your world. I've tried. And even so...even so...my heart is filled with someone else. I'm sorry but I do wish with all my heart for your health and happiness," I said.

"I thought so. Y/N-ah, I want to hear it...I want to hear you say you don't love me. Look me in the eye and say it," Jimin said as he grabbed into my hand. 

I looked into his lovely brown eyes that always smiled when he was happy. It hurt to know I would never see them again.

"This is goodbye Jimin."

He looked hurt and his facial expression was painful to see. Tears started to develop in his eyes as he tried to fight it back.

"Say it before you go," he softly said.

"I...I don't love you Jimin. I'm in love with someone else."

He lets go of my hand gently and sniffles before wiping a tear away.

"I thought I would be okay when you said those words but still, I'm glad I met you. I'm glad to have known what love felt like. I can move on now. Thank you for being a part of my life even though it was brief. Yugyeom better love you right and he better not hurt you. Go take back what belongs to you, my little mermaid princess," he said with a forced smile.

Though my heart ached, I nodded and returned a small smile. 

"Thank you Jimin...for all you have done. This will be the last time."

One last glance at him. One last glance at the world around me. One last moment before the final farewell. I turned away and jumped into the water, saying the spell to turn me back into a mermaid. 

No looking back Y/N, his fiancé was chosen for him and I'm sure she'll love him the way he deserves to be loved. I need to find Yugyeom, I thought.

I felt a tug on my tail from behind and stopped.

"WHO-"

"It's just me," he said.

"Gyeomie..."

"I saw you with him again Y/N."

All I did was silently looked at him who avoided my eyes.

"Before you say anything I just wanted to at least get the chance to say what's been on my mind all these years. Y/N, ever since that day I saw you being tortured by the other kids, I knew I had to protect you. You were so fragile yet so strong the way you were holding back your tears and enduring it all. My body and mind instantly reacted and swam to you. I think I knew that you were special to me since then. I don't just treasure you like a friend and I don't see you as a sister either. The more time I spent with you, the more I was sure about my feelings. I love you Y/N and I always have. But if you want to be with Jimin...I won't hold you back," Yugyeom said softly.

I touched the bottom of his chin and lifted it up. 

"Gyeomie-ah, look at me," I said.

His eyes gazed into mine.

"You're selling yourself short. I know I was curious about the other world and I tend to talk about Jimin to you but be happy for me. I found love...in you."

His eyes that were soft and tender suddenly opened wide.

"W-what??"

I softly chuckled.

"I said it's you. I love you too Yugyeom. I kept telling myself it was all because I thought of you like a precious little brother but now I know. I think about you too much and I feel safe whenever I do anything because of you. You always made time for me and you always protected me. I adored you since the first time we met. And I think you're a cutie," I said.

He smiled brightly.

"Say it again," he said.

"I think you're a cutie," I repeated.

"No say the first thing."

"Oh. The first thing," I joked.

"Yah Y/N," he said, slightly pouting his bottom lips.

I stuck out my tongue at him. 

"Oh! Look, it's Forte!" he said, pointing behind me.

I turned and saw nothing.

"Liar there's nothing there Yu-"

I turned as I spoke these words. His face was centimeters away from mine as he leaned in and placed his soft lips on mine. I opened my eyes and after he drew his lips away and blushed.

"That's how to tease the teaser," he said with a smirk.

He held my waist tightly in his arms.

"Y-yah. Let go," I said as I covered my face with both hands.

"Not until I hear you say it again," he said slyly.

"But you only said it once too," I pouted.

"But I've always shown you my feelings. It hurt because it was unrequited this whole time," he said.

I uncovered my face.

"Well that's your fault for thinking that!"

He quickly gave me a peck.

"Y-yah!"

I covered my lips.

He giggled and leaned his forehead on mine.

"I love you Y/N," he whispered. 

"I love you too Yugyeom."

He closed his eyes and smiled.

"Now, to the serious part. Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.

"There's been a lot going on between the three kingdoms Y/N. For one, I hid my identity because as the only prince, I am in line for the thrown but in order to learn about my people and the way others lived, I became one of them. A great king isn't just born," he said.

"I see. And the other boys? Who are they?" I asked.

"They're just people I became friends with. None of them know I'm a prince," he answered.

"Ahh I see."

"But Y/N-ah, stay away from JB okay? There's something off about him. He's a great friend but just do as I say okay?" he said.

I looked at him confused but nodded.

"And your mother asked me to tell you that she just wants you home. She missed out on 17 years of your life and she wants to be there for the rest," he said.

"Should I? I mean, I'm not princess material and then there's my mother too," I said.

"I know. You don't want to leave her."

I shook my head.

"I can't leave the mother who raised me all my life for one I never even knew existed until now. I need to go and have a talk with her."

"Would you like me to come along too?" he asked kindly.

"No it's alright. Thanks Yugyeom. I'm strong enough to do this on my own."

I smiled and he kissed my temple before I swam off. Hopefully I won't have to say goodbye to another person in my life.
