The Promise

Yugyeom's P.O.V.

Two years passed by quickly. I am now 17 years old.

"Y/N! What do you say we have a competition? Who can swim faster?" asked Bam Bam.

"No not today. I'm busy," she said.

"Busy? Getting into trouble again?" I asked.

"Of course not. I'll be home all day with my mother. Don't come by today," she said, collecting shells.

"Why?" I asked.

"Some ritual of some sort," she replied.

Her black hair grew longer but it was still as pretty as the first time I saw her.

"Yugyeom, tell the other boys for me okay?" she asked.

"Okay."

She swam off, leaving bubbles behind.

"You like her don't you?" asked Bam Bam.

"What? She's like a sister to me," I said, hiding my face.

"You're right. She does treat you like a like little brother. You realize she only hugs you and not us?" he asked.

"I know."

It did bother me a bit when Bam Bam said that but it's not like it was false.

"I want to be her little brother too. So I can get hugs as well," Bam Bam said, chuckling.

"Whatever. Let's go."

Y/N's P.O.V.

I hope I played it off well enough. Today was the day I was supposed to meet Jimin again. I remembered our promise. I looked at my pinky and smiled. I know I'll be breaking the rules but a mermaid always keeps her word.

After secretly dropping off my things at home, I made my way to our meeting place.

"Y/N where are you going?"

I turned around and saw Forte.

"Above. Don't tell anyone," I said.

"Are you sure it's okay?" he wondered.

"It'll be fine. I'll be back okay?" I said stroking his head.

When above, I said the secret chant and became human again. I sat there by the rock and waited. Hopefully he keeps his words too.

My heart was pounding really fast so I started singing to calm myself down. It's a trick Youngjae taught me.

"You have a beautiful voice."

I looked up and saw him.

"Jimin!"

He chuckled and waved.

"I see you remember our promise," he said.

"Of course I would."
