Secrets

After leaving Jimin, I started swimming back. Just then I felt waves hitting my tail. I turned around to search for where it came from. It was a beautiful blue dolphin and it looked injured. I swam over to it and tried to find where the pain was coming from. There was a net stuck around its neck and tail, making it hard for it to swim.

"Don't worry. I got you," I said.

It was bouncing its head up and down and swimming rapidly.

"I don't trust you," it said.

"You're going to have to trust me. You won't be able to swim far like this. I'm not going to hurt you," I said.

"Wait you can understand me?" it asked.

"Of course. Aren't all merpeople able to?" I asked.

"But I'm not even speaking. Do you even realize we're speaking through our minds right now?" it asked.

"What?"

I realized I hadn't even moved my mouth.

"Is this normal?" I asked.

"I'm not sure. I haven't been around a mermaid before."

"Well let me help you out first," I said as I started to untie the knots.

"We're going to have to use a sharp rock for this. Wait here," I said.

I swam below and started searching for a thin sharp rock.

Got it!

I swam back up and started to cut the dolphin free.

"Y/N!"

I turned around to see Yugyeom.

"Yugyeom! Perfect timing. Help me free him," I said.

He held the net for me as I started to cut away.

"Thank you. My name is Forte and I'm at your service," he said.

"I'm Y/N and you don't owe my anything," I said.

"Still, don't you think it's strange?" Forte asked.

"I do. I have to ask my mother about this," I said.

"I'll be going now. Whenever you need me, just call out my name and I'll be there," he said before swimming off.

"What was that about?" asked Yugyeom.

"We could communicate through our minds," I said excitedly.

He looked shocked and puzzled.

"Y/N, I don't think you should tell anyone else about this," he said.

"Why?"

"Just trust me on this. Don't tell your mother either," he said.

Yugyeom was usually right about things so I nodded my head.

"Good. Now let's go back. Youngjae is worried about you," he said.

We swam back together as I was lost in thought.

Yugyeom's P.O.V.
Strange. Y/N shouldn't be able to communicate with sea creatures by using her mind. Only those with the royal blood can. She can't be who I think she is, can she?

"Y/N! Thank goodness you're okay," said Youngjae as he saw us swim by.

"I told you I'd be back," Y/N said.

"I was just lecturing Youngjae about the dangers of leaving you alone in the human world. It's good to see that you're okay," said Jae Bum.

"You guys worry too much," she said laughing.

First the stars then the dolphin. I have a feeling Y/N wasn't just a random mermaid.

"Let's go Yugyeom!" said Bam Bam.

I nodded and followed behind.

"Say Yugyeom. You're always around Y/N, do you sense something a little off about her?" asked Jae Bum.

"Off how?"

"Never mind," he said.

Come to think of it, something about Jae Bum was also off. I have a hunch he's not really who he says he is.

"Hey! Stop looking off into sea and come back to reality," said Jackson playfully.

"Oh did you just rhyme?" asked Bam Bam to Jackson.

"Oh I did didn't I?"

We all laughed. Bam Bam would be the one to notice.

Y/N's P.O.V.
A week passed by. I've been taking singing lessons with Youngjae and Jinyoung. They're both a lot better than I am but because it was fun, I kept going for lessons.

Today though, I wanted to find Forte. Using my mind, I called out to him.

"Hey Y/N!" he said as he crept up on me.

"Hey Forte! You actually came!"

"I said I would didn't I?"

"So I was wondering, did you find out anything about speaking with the minds?" I asked.

"Well my parents said they haven't really seen common mermaids have the ability to do so before. You must be special," he said.

"Maybe I got lucky," I said.

"Maybe you did. Oh hey my friends wanted to meet you. Want to go?" he asked.

I nodded. On the swim there I thought about what Yugyeom said. Something was off. My friendship with Forte must remain a secret. Just like my friendship with Jimin had to be kept a secret.
