A/N👑: Writer's block can be such a party-pooper. Anyhow while I was gone I started working on more than just one chapter. I was looking over some of my previous chapters, and I had a moment where I was like 'did I really write that?' Nowadays I just wonder what has become of my life.
3373 words. Let's just send a prayer for me actually coming up with something at this point.
Chapter: 29- Cake Batter & Dinner Invitations
❤Sarah's POV❤
James was standing next to me wearing an apron while I got all the ingredients we'd need out of the cabinets.
"You said we're baking a cake right? Please tell me we're not starting from scratch." Looking over at James' terrified face I took a moment to give him an evil smile in return before I shook my head.
"No, we're not. I mean I have to build you up to getting that skilled before we actually start baking the good stuff. For now we have to stick to this prepackaged bull-crap." Sorry but it was true. Don't get me wrong, buying your cake mix doesn't make your cake any less better than mine, it's just that after living with a family that owns a bakery and makes everything from scratch I have a preference now.
Setting the chocolate cake mix on the counter, I was going to go grab a mixing bowl when I saw I was too short to reach it in the cabinet, so instead I sent James to do it. When he returned with the bowl I already had everything else we needed to successfully make this cake, and the oven was already preheated so I began.
"So James, since this is your first time baking with me I'll let you choose what to do. Well except for the mixing. Since you don't have a blender you have to blend it by hand, I can't do it because I'm not strong enough for it." I grinned up at James, leaving out the part that I was actually just too tired and lazy to do that, it was tough work after all. Plus he has to learn somewhere, and learning not to always rely on machines to do the work for you will be good practice for him when it comes to baking.
"I'm fine with that... As long as I get to lick the spoon." Laughing I stared up at him.
"You know you're not supposed to eat raw batter, right?"
"Says who?"
"Well besides me? A whole lot of people. It's not healthy to consume that much, something about the raw eggs."
"Uhuh, whatever you say." Rolling his eyes James just turned around going to wash his hands while I followed him.
"Hey! Do you think I'm lying?"
"Now what would possibly make you think that? Of course I believe you with my whole heart." It would have been believable and all, that is until I saw the smirk on his face and of course the tone with which he said it.
"You know, James sometimes you can be a meanie." Sticking my tongue out at him, I turned to wash my hands ignoring his protests behind me.
"Aww, Angel don't be that way. I was only kidding..." I continued to ignore him, pretending to be fascinated in the way the bubbles appeared randomly on my skin.
"Angel. Angel. Angel. Angel. Angel. Sarah!"
"Hmm?" Turning around after I washed the remainder of the soap from my hands, I grabbed a paper towel drying them as I stared at James. He had a look of despair on his face as he looked at me.
"I don't like it when you ignore me. It makes me sad." He then gave me one of the most heartbreaking puppy dog eyes ever, and feeling like the worst person ever I was quick to grab him into a hug.
